Along Europe's Scenic "Yellow Roads"

"Romancing the senses" is an apt description for the experiences showcased on Bellissima Northern Italy... for the landscapes you'll see and the lifestyles you'll sample take you on a love affair with Italy.

It starts with fashion and art in Milan. It continues during a private Tauck cruise across Lake Como to Bellagio and a boat ride to Isola Bella on Lake Maggiore. It captures your heart along the cobblestone streets of Verona, home to Romeo & Juliet... your taste buds at an agriturismo in the Franciacorta region and a cooking demo in Bologna (whose nickname is La Grassa, "the Fat One")... and all the senses in Venice, with visits by boat to some of the Venetian Islands and a private music recital, for Tauck guests only... Now that's amore, from pane to formaggio to vino... Read Less

Cooking demonstration in Bologna

Learn culinary secrets from a master chef at a cooking demonstration in Bologna

From the famous meat-based Bolognese sauce (known locally as "ragù," and only served here atop the traditional pasta known as tagliatelle) to the original Bologna sausage (known the world over, often as "baloney") and much more in between, the ancient northern Italian city of Bologna has been renowned for its culinary traditions for centuries; gastronomic opportunities abound in this gourmet capital! Discover why the city's nickname is La Grassa ("the Fat One") firsthand when an early evening cooking demonstration by a master chef reveals some local culinary secrets...

The Gritti Palace, Venice

Where history and culture are met with renewed Venetian style

A place of exceptional art and elegance, the majestic, recently restored Gritti Palace retains its reassuringly intimate and familiar feel. A former Doge's residence now known for its luxurious comfort, impassioned service, delectable culinary experiences and as an intimate haven for wellness, the Gritti is a reference point for the world's elite. After a meticulous restoration, the hotel's original wooden ceilings and entrance flooring, 18th-century wall lamps (hand-made in Murano) and more have been given new life... as the Gritti Signature Suite Collection showcases the hotel's rich historical past.

Taste Your Way Through Modena

Day 7

Parmigiano Factory Visit and the Art of Balsamic

What better way to discover Italy than a visit (and tasting) of some of Italy's most notable edible offerings. Learn about the first-hand process of cheesemaking; from the milk delivery to the finished wheels during a visit to Parmigiano Reggiano cheese factory in Modena, following the process from start to finish and enjoying a tasting along the way. Later, a guided visit reveals the art of balsamic making — an elaborate process of rendering grapes and decanting must into wooden barrels. Your visit here is memorable, as is the sampling of this aromatic staple of gourmet cooking aged from 18 to 25+ years!
