COVID-19 Travel Requirements

Increasingly, the places we visit are compelling visitors to provide proof of vaccination to gain entry. Accordingly, Tauck requires all guests ages 12 and older to be vaccinated and to carry proof with them, such as the CDC Vaccination Record Card, at all times while traveling with Tauck. Additional information regarding Tauck’s travel requirements can be found here.

Additionally, certain destination and travel partners have instituted their own requirements such as proof of vaccination and/or testing, health insurance coverage and wearing masks in public environments. Where applicable, specific tour guidelines for US travelers are listed below and are in addition to, and may go beyond, Tauck’s requirements.

United States

Life on the Mississippi

Your health and safety remain our number one priority while you are traveling with us on the Life on the Mississippi river cruise. The below travel requirements are mandated by our ship partner, American Queen Steamboat Company,  and are applicable to all Tauck guests without exception:

  • Consistent with CDC guidance, visitors to Louisiana are currently required to wear a mask indoors. Vaccinated guests are not exempt from this requirement.
  • American Queen Steamboat Company has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination requirement and only fully vaccinated guests will be permitted to board the American Duchess for this cruise.
  • Guests will have to present a government-issued certificate, such as the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, indicating full COVID-19 vaccination (14 days after final required dose) prior to embarking the American Duchess.
  • American Queen Steamboat company requires all passengers to take a mandatory COVID-19 test on the day before boarding the riverboat. A negative result is required to embark. The test will be arranged and administered by the American Queen Steamboat Company at no cost to the guests.

New Orleans and Mississippi River Country

Your health and safety remain our number one priority while you are traveling with us on the New Orleans and Mississippi River Country river cruise. The below travel requirements are mandated by the state of Louisiana and are applicable to all Tauck guests without exception:

  • Consistent with CDC guidance, visitors to Louisiana are currently required to wear a mask indoors. Vaccinated guests are not exempt from this requirement.

The Best of Hawaii

Your health and safety remain our number one priority while you are traveling with us on the The Best of Hawaii tour. The below travel requirements are mandated by Tauck and the state of Hawaii and are applicable to all Tauck guests without exception:

  • Prior to travel, all guests 18 and over must create an online user account and registers with the State of Hawaii Safe Travels program at https://travel.hawaii.gov/#/.
  • All travelers must present one of the following forms of proof for entry to Hawaii: 1) Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, such as the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, indicating full COVID-19 vaccination (14 days since receiving the final dose); or 2) Proof of a negative NAAT COVID-19 test result taken within 72 hours of the final leg of their trip to Hawaii. The test must be conducted by a Hawaii Safe Travels Trusted Partner.
  • The proof of vaccination or negative test result must be uploaded on the Safe Travels site prior to departure.
  • All vaccinated guests must also have with them the physical copy of the vaccination card, no digital images will be accepted.

Yosemite and Sequoia: John Muir's California

Your health and safety remain our number one priority while you are traveling with us on Yosemite and Sequoia: John Muir's California.

The city of San Francisco currently requires that everyone 12 years or older must be vaccinated to dine indoors at restaurants. As a result, please be sure to carry proof of full vaccination, such as the CDC Vaccination Record card. For any unvaccinated guests, this will most likely prevent you from attending our Welcome Reception and Farewell Dinner at the St. Francis and Fairmont hotels. It will also restrict what you can do with free time in San Francisco.

Tours to National Parks

Your health and safety remain our number one priority while you are traveling with us. The below requirements are mandated by the US National Park Service and are applicable to all Tauck guests without exception:

  • For visitors who are not vaccinated, The National Park Service has implemented a mandatory mask requirement when indoors and in crowded outdoor spaces. Mask requirements for fully vaccinated visitors varies from park to park, but you can expect masks to be required indoors for vaccinated visitors in the more popular parks such as Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Yosemite and the major parks in the southwest such as the Grand Canyon.
Canada

Best of the Canadian Rockies

Your health and safety remain our number one priority while you are traveling with us on Best of the Canadian Rockies. The below travel requirements are mandated by the country of Canada, and are applicable to all Tauck guests without exception:

  • All travelers age 12 and over must bring proof, such as the CDC Vaccination Record Card, indicating full COVID-19 vaccination (14 days after receiving the final dose). The approved vaccines are Pfizer-Biontech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson (Janssen).
  • Additionally, all travelers must provide proof of a negative molecular COVID-19 test result from a test taken within 72 hours of the scheduled departure time of the flight to Canada (which may not be the first leg of your route). Children under age 5 are exempt from this requirement. Antigen tests are NOT accepted. Accepted tests include PCR, RT-PCR, NAAT, and RT-LAMP. Vaccinated guests are not exempt from this requirement.
  • All travelers age 5 and older must register to ArriveCAN, which takes 1-4 business days to process. The online application form can be found at https://arrivecan.cbsa-asfc.cloud-nuage.canada.ca/welcome. The application requires the details of your first dose and second dose (if applicable), and a photo of the proof, such as the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card. After registering your details, you will receive a reference number and barcode, which you must present upon arrival to Canada. Regarding the request for a “quarantine plan,” please answer “yes” to the questions and provide the address of the first night’s hotel on tour.
  • All passengers are subject to random COVID-19 testing upon arrival to Canada.

For return to the United States:

  • A negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken within 3 days of your flight is required for entry into the US after your trip. Arrangements for this testing will be made by Tauck at an additional cost to guests.

Canada's Capital Cities plus Niagara Falls

Your health and safety remain our number one priority while you are traveling with us on Canada's Capital Cities plus Niagara Falls. The below travel requirements are mandated by the country of Canada, and are applicable to all Tauck guests without exception:

  • All travelers age 12 and over must bring proof, such as the CDC Vaccination Record Card, indicating full COVID-19 vaccination (14 days after receiving the final dose). The approved vaccines are Pfizer-Biontech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson (Janssen).
  • Additionally, all travelers must provide proof of a negative molecular COVID-19 test result from a test taken within 72 hours of the scheduled departure time of the flight to Canada (which may not be the first leg of your route).   • All travelers age 12 and over must bring proof, such as the CDC Vaccination Record Card, indicating full COVID-19 vaccination (14 days after receiving the final dose). The approved vaccines are Pfizer-Biontech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson (Janssen).
  • Additionally, all travelers must provide proof of a negative molecular COVID-19 test result from a test taken within 72 hours of the scheduled departure time of the flight to Canada (which may not be the first leg of your route). For entry into Nova Scotia, all travelers from outside Atlantic Canada, must apply to travel to Nova Scotia by completing the Safe Check-in Form: https://travel-declaration.novascotia.ca/en.

  • For entry to Prince Edward Island, all travelers from outside Atlantic Canada, must apply for a PEI Pass, which verifies that you are fully vaccinated and can visit Prince Edward Island without isolating. The application is available at: https://www.princeedwardisland.ca/en/service/apply-for-a-pei-pass. The application is available approximately 2 weeks before your arrival date to Prince Edward Island (Day 5 your tour), and takes about 10 days to process. You will be required to upload a copy of your vaccination proof.
  • For entry to New Brunswick, all travelers from outside Atlantic Canada must go to the following website to fill out the applicable form: https://www2.gnb.ca/content/gnb/en/corporate/promo/covid-19/travel.html. You must attach your proof of vaccination  if you are fully vaccinated or your proof of valid medical exemption, if you are medically exempt.  Please email the form and proof of vaccination to border.frontiere@gnb.ca after which you will receive an email confirmation to the email address from which you've sent your registration form. When filling out the form, please use “Aulac” for the border entry location. 

For return to the United States:

  • A negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken within 3 days of your flight is required for entry into the US after your trip. Arrangements for this testing will be made by Tauck at an additional cost to guests.

Grand Canadian Rockies

Your health and safety remain our number one priority while you are traveling with us on Grand Canadian Rockies. The below travel requirements are mandated by the country of Canada, and are applicable to all Tauck guests without exception:

  • All travelers age 12 and over must bring proof, such as the CDC Vaccination Record Card, indicating full COVID-19 vaccination (14 days after receiving the final dose). The approved vaccines are Pfizer-Biontech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson (Janssen).

  • All travelers age 12 and over must bring proof, such as the CDC Vaccination Record Card, indicating full COVID-19 vaccination (14 days after receiving the final dose). The approved vaccines are Pfizer-Biontech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson (Janssen).
  • Additionally, all travelers must provide proof of a negative molecular COVID-19 test result from a test taken within 72 hours of the scheduled departure time of the flight to Canada (which may not be the first leg of your route). Children under age 5 are exempt from this requirement. Antigen tests are NOT accepted. Accepted tests include PCR, RT-PCR, NAAT, and RT-LAMP. Vaccinated guests are not exempt from this requirement.
  • All travelers age 5 and older must register to ArriveCAN, which takes 1-4 business days to process.   • All guests must take a rapid COVID-19 test on the afternoon of Day 2 in Vancouver, as a requirement for boarding the train on Day 3. Tauck will arrange transportation for this testing, and there will be no additional cost. No tour components will be missed for this testing.

For return to the United States:

  • A negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken within 3 days of your flight is required for entry into the US after your trip. Arrangements for this testing will be made by Tauck at an additional cost to guests.

Europe

A Grand Rail Adventure: Milan, the Alps & Vienna - (Eastbound)

Your health and safety remain our number one priority while you are traveling with us on A Grand Rail Adventure: Milan, the Alps & Vienna. The below travel requirements are mandated by the countries of Austria, Switzerland, & Italy, and are applicable to all Tauck guests without exception:

  • Golden Eagle Luxury Trains is also requiring all guests on this tour to be fully vaccinated due to complications with entry restrictions and border crossings for unvaccinated guests.
  • We highly recommend all guests take a PCR test within 72 hours of travel. Proof of a negative COVID-19 test is required in order to transit through some countries, even if your layover is brief. We strongly encourage guests to check the requirements for any transit/layover destinations that will be part of your journey. However, taking a PCR test within 72 hours of travel will help ensure smooth travels.

For entry to Italy:

  • Italy is open to American travelers (including minors) who bring one of the following: 1) Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination in the form of the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, indicating full COVID-19 vaccination (14 days since receiving the final dose); or, 2) Proof of a negative result from a PCR/NAAT or antigen COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours of arrival in Italy. These requirements apply to all travelers ages 6 and over.
  • All travelers must fill in a Passenger Locator Form at https://app.euplf.eu/#/ and download the resultant digital form or app to bring on the flight.

For entry to Switzerland and Austria:

  • Switzerland and Austria are currently open to Americans who show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test result. Use the same proof as described above. Please note that for Austria, the validity of vaccination ends 270 days after the second dose.

For return to the US::

  • Proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken within 3 days of your flight is required for entry into the US after your trip. Arrangements for this testing will be made by Tauck at an additional cost to guests.

Vaccination must be with an EU-approved vaccine (14 days since receiving the final dose). Please note that for Austria, the validity of vaccination ends 270 days after the second dose.

For entry to Switzerland and Italy:

  • Switzerland is currently open to Americans who show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test result. Use the same proof as described above.
  • Italy is currently open to Americans (including minors) who show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test result. Use the same proof as described above. Any testing that must take place to cross borders on tour will be organized and paid for by Tauck. Additionally, all travelers must fill in a Passenger Locator Form at https://app.euplf.eu/#/. Your Tauck Director can assist with this on tour.

For return to the US::

  • Proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken within 3 days of your flight is required for entry into the US after your trip. Arrangements for this testing will be made by Tauck at an additional cost to guests.

A Sicilian Odyssey

Your health and safety remain our number one priority while you are traveling with us on A Sicilian Odyssey. The below travel requirements are mandated by the country of Italy and are applicable to all Tauck guests without exception: 

  • We highly recommend all guests take a PCR test within 72 hours of travel. Proof of a negative COVID-19 test is required in order to transit through some countries, even if your layover is brief. We strongly encourage guests to check the requirements for any transit/layover destinations that will be part of your journey. However, taking a PCR test within 72 hours of travel will help ensure smooth travels.

For entry to Italy:

  • American travelers must bring proof of full COVID-19 vaccination in the form of the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, indicating full COVID-19 vaccination (14 days since receiving the final dose) with an EU-approved vaccine
  • All American travelers must also bring proof of a negative result from a PCR/NAAT or antigen COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of arrival in Italy. These requirements apply to all travelers ages 6 and over.
  • All travelers must fill in a Passenger Locator Form at https://app.euplf.eu/#/ and download the resultant digital form or app with a QR code to bring on the flight.

For return to the United States:

  • A negative result from a COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken within 3 days of your flight is required for entry into the US after your trip. Arrangements for this testing will be made by Tauck at an additional cost to guests.

A Week In... Ireland

Your health and safety remain our number one priority while you are traveling with us on A Week In... Ireland. The below travel requirements are mandated by the Republic of Ireland [and Northern Ireland] and are applicable to all Tauck guests without exception:

  • We highly recommend all guests take a PCR test within 72 hours of travel. Proof of a negative COVID-19 test is required in order to transit through some countries, even if your layover is brief. We strongly encourage guests to check the requirements for any transit/layover destinations that will be part of your journey. However, taking a PCR test within 72 hours of travel will help ensure smooth travels.

For the Republic of Ireland:

  • Please note Tauck requires guests to be fully vaccinated per the above.
  • All travelers ages 18 and over must bring proof, such as the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, indicating full COVID-19 vaccination (14 days after receiving the final dose) to avoid mandatory quarantine upon entry to Ireland.
  • All guests must complete a Passenger Locator Form 48 hours prior to travel at https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/ab900-covid-19-passenger-locator-form/.

For Northern Ireland:

  • Please note Tauck requires guests to be fully vaccinated per the above.
  • Please note that additional COVID-19 testing may be required. Any on-tour testing required to move between countries on tour will be organized and paid for by Tauck.

For return to the United States:

  • Proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken within 3 days of your flight is required for entry into the US after your trip. Arrangements for this testing will be made by Tauck at an additional cost to guests.

A Week In... Naples, Capri & Amalfi

Your health and safety remain our number one priority while you are traveling with us on A Week In... Naples, Capri & Amalfi. The below travel requirements are mandated by the country of Italy and are applicable to all Tauck guests without exception:

After completing the form, an individualized QR code will be generated, which the traveler must present to the airline before boarding, as well as at the health controls upon entry to Spain.
  • If you are arriving to Spain from a flight from the United States, the above is the only requirement for entry. This is also valid for flights with connections, as long as the original departure city is in the United States
  • If you are traveling in another country in Europe before arriving to Spain, all travelers over the age of 12 must bring one of the following forms of proof: 1) Proof, such as the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, indicating full COVID 19 vaccination (14 days since receiving the final dose), or 2) Proof of a negative PCR or antigen COVID-19 test result taken within 48 hours prior to travel.

For Entry into the UK:

  • All travelers must carry proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.
  • IF ARRIVING BEFORE OCTOBER 4: Even if vaccinated, all guests will have to take a PCR or Antigen COVID-19 test within 3 days of your departure to the UK.
  • If ARRIVING ON OR AFTER OCTOBER 4: The UK does not require a negative COVID-19 test result for entry. However, as mentioned above, Tauck still strongly recommends that all travelers take a test before any travel.
  • All guests must fill out a Passenger Locator Form, found at https://www.gov.uk/provide-journey-contact-details-before-travel-uk. The form must be submitted within 48 hours before you arrive in the UK.
  • All guests will also have to take a PCR COVID-19 test on/or before their 2nd day in the UK. This test will be arranged by Tauck at no cost to the guest.

For the UK test in London, please follow the below instructions carefully:

  • Your Passenger Locator Form noted above must include the booking number for your COVID-19 test in the UK. The arrangements for this test have been made by Tauck.  The clinic will have your information on file prior to your arrival.   • For the welcome dinner at Queluz Palace, all guests must show proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the welcome dinner, or a negative antigen test taken within 24 hours of the welcome dinner. The welcome dinner begins at 7:00pm on Day 1 of the tour. If the test taken to enter Portugal is within the required timeframe, you may use this same test result for entry to the Palace. Iceland has the following requirements:

  • All travelers are required to Pre-register Online at https://visit.covid.is/ before departing for Iceland. Pre-registration does not constitute a travel authorization.
  • Travelers ages 16 and over must present proof, such as the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, indicating full COVID-19 vaccination (14 days since receiving the final dose) for entry into Iceland. Iceland accepts currently approved US and EU vaccines.
  • Additionally, all travelers ages 15 or over, regardless of vaccination status, will need to show proof of a negative result from a COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken within 72 hours of your flight's arrival to Iceland (please note that Tauck requires a PCR test for unvaccinated guests).

Ponant has the following requirements:

  • For fully vaccinated guests, there are no additional requirements.
  • All unvaccinated guests must present proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test result from a test taken within 3 days of boarding. (If a PCR test to enter Iceland was done within 3 days of embarkation, the same test will suffice.).
  • Additionally, unvaccinated guests must undergo an antigen COVID-19 test on the pier before embarkation. Finally, they must undergo a second antigen COVID-19 test on Day 4 of the cruise at no cost to the Tauck guest.

  • A US CDC Vaccine Record Card will be accepted in place of the Swiss COVID-19 Certificate as proof of vaccination to enter indoor dining venues and some leisure facilities in Switzerland. 
  • A digital COVID-19 certificate may be required to enter indoor dining venues and some leisure facilities in the Netherlands (not required for outdoor dining, take-out or museums). This does not affect any of the sightseeing included on your Tauck itinerary, and the certificate is not required for travel. If you wish to have more options for your free time, your Tauck Directors can assist you with organizing an optional COVID-19 test at your own cost.

Please note that for Austria, the validity of vaccination ends 360 days after the second dose of a two-dose vaccine or 270 days after a one-dose vaccine.

  • A Pass Sanitaire (QR Code) issued by France is not a requirement for traveling with Tauck. However, certain restaurants, museums and activities not included in your Tauck trip may not be possible without the pass. Vaccinated travelers are not exempt from Portugal's testing requirements. This result must be shown when boarding the flight to Portugal and also at the border control upon arrival.
  • All travelers must complete the Passenger Locator Card online at https://portugalcleanandsafe.pt/en/passenger-locator-card within 48 hours before travel.
  • There may be temperature checks upon arrival.

For Entry to Spain:

For Main Place of Stay in the Czech Republic, enter “Praha,” and use the hotel address. For means of transport (by flight), select  "Letadlo”.

For entry to Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary:

  • Austria, Germany, and Slovakia are currently open to American travelers (including minors) who bring proof of full COVID-19 vaccination (use the same proof as mentioned above). Please note that for Austria, the validity of vaccination ends 360 days after the second dose of a two-dose vaccine, or 270 days after a one-dose vaccine.
  • Hungary’s land and river borders are open to American travelers without further requirements.

For return to the US:

  • All travelers from the USA must also fill out an entry form within 3 days of travel. This form can be found at https://www.einreiseanmeldung.de/#/. After filling out the form you will receive a PDF confirmation, which you must bring with you to present upon check-in for your flight.

Additional Information for guests transiting through Amsterdam Schiphol Airport:

  1. Please note that vaccinated travelers transiting through the Netherlands from a "very high risk area," such as the USA (as currently designated), to another country are not impacted as long as they do not leave the airport, train station or bus/coach station during their layover and fill out a quarantine declaration form indicating they fall into one of the exemption categories.

     
    –  Transiting travelers must fill out the “quarantine form.” This does NOT mean you have to quarantine. Guests may fill on the form online at  https:/quarantinedeclaration.government.nl/en/verklaring/reisgegevens. Or, you may download the form at https://www.government.nl/topics/coronavirus-covid-          19/documents/publications/2021/05/26/quarantine-declaration. All travelers must complete the form.

    –  Guests must check the box stating they fall into one of the exemption categories. The exemption is that you are transiting through a Dutch airport without leaving the    airport. Your boarding pass is the proof.

    –   If you fill out the form online, you must fill in all personal information.  You will then  receive a QR code that you must be ready to show. If using the printed form, please print, sign and bring with you on your travels.

    –  The form is available up to 7 days before the flight date.

  • All travelers must bring proof of a negative NAAT (including RT-PCR) COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the time of departure to Portugal, or a negative COVID-19 antigen test taken within 24 hours of the time of departure to Portugal. Vaccinated travelers are not exempt from this requirement. This result must be shown at the time of boarding and also at the border control upon entry into Portugal.
  • We highly recommend all guests take a PCR test within 72 hours of travel. Proof of a negative COVID-19 test is required in order to transit through some countries, even if your layover is brief. We strongly encourage guests to check the requirements for any transit/layover destinations that will be part of your journey. However, taking a PCR test within 72 hours of travel will help ensure smooth travels.
  • All travelers must complete the Passenger Locator Card online at https://portugalcleanandsafe.pt/en/passenger-locator-card within 48 hours before travel. You will be emailed a QR code that you must keep with you, digitally or printed, throughout your journey.

Requirements for Windsurf:

  • Windstar requires proof of full COVID-19 vaccination from Tauck guests. Guests must bring a government-issued certificate, such as the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, indicating that you are fully vaccinated and received the final dose at least 14 days prior to the start of the tour. Windstar accepts currently approved U.S. and EU vaccines.
  • Windstar will administer a COVID-19 antigen test to all guests at the pier prior to embarkation. There will be no cost for the test. A negative test result is required to board.
  • Please note that Windstar is required to administer additional COVID-19 tests (currently for entry into Gibraltar and disembarkation in Barcelona) during the course of the cruise. They will organize and cover the cost of these tests.
  • Consistent with cruise industry guidelines, all shore excursions will operate as planned, but guests now must disembark and return to the ship together at the end of each excursion. While this regulation remains in place, your opportunities for independent exploration ashore will be restricted. Please note that this applies to your shipboard excursions only; your stays in Lisbon and Barcelona will not be affected.

For Entry to Spain:

  • Upon arrival in Barcelona all travelers must bring proof of a negative COVID-19 rapid antigen test (TRAg) taken within 12 hours of disembarkation at the port. Vaccinated travelers are not exempt from this requirement. This will be organized on board the ship at no additional cost.

For entry to Gibraltar:

  • All travelers must bring proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test or a Lateral Flow test taken within 72 hours of the time of arrival to Gibraltar. Vaccinated travelers are not exempt from this requirement. The test you receive at embarkation should serve to fulfill this requirement since we should arrive into Gibraltar within 72 hours of embarkation in Lisbon.

For return to the United States:

  • A negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test result taken within 72 hours of your flight is required for entry into the U.S. after your trip. Vaccinated travelers are not exempt from this requirement. These tests will be available at the Tauck hotel for an additional cost per person, currently EUR 35 (subject to change) in cash or by credit card for an antigen test. Guests staying in Barcelona after the tour ends may also receive a COVID-19 antigen test, but must pay an extra EUR 50 for the lab technician to come to the hotel.

Masks are currently required in most vehicles, in public indoor spaces, and in some outdoor spaces in Spain, Gibraltar and Portugal, even for vaccinated guests.   • All travelers to Greece must complete a Passenger Locator Form (PLF), no later than the day before entry into Greece. You will be e-mailed a QR code that you must keep with you, digitally or printed, throughout your journey. 

Requirements for Wind Star:

  • Turkey currently requires a negative PCR test result within 72 hours before entry. This will be available aboard our vessel at no cost.
  • For entry into Turkey, travelers must present a government-issued certificate, such as the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, indicating full COVID-19 vaccination (at least 14 days after receiving the final dose).
  • All travelers must complete the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) online at https://www.entranceformturkey.com/ application at least 4 days before entering Turkey. You will be e-mailed a QR code that you must keep with you, digitally or printed, throughout your time in Turkey. Your Tauck Director will be able to assist you with filling this form out on tour. There is no need to fill out the form in advance of travel.

For return to the United States:

  • A negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test result taken within 72 hours of your flight is required for entry into the U.S. after your trip. Vaccinated travelers are not exempt from this requirement. These tests will be available on board the ship at an additional cost of $49 USD per person for an antigen test and $89 USD for a PCR test (subject to change).
  • Guests staying in Athens after the tour ends who are not returning to the U.S. within 72 hours of disembarkation, may also receive a COVID-19 antigen test at the Tauck hotel. Guests are responsible for making arrangements through the hotel Concierge and will need to cover the cost of this test

Documentation can be either digital or printed. Children under the age of 12 years are exempt if they travel with at least one vaccinated parent. Please note that Tauck requires unvaccinated persons to provide proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test result from a test taken within 3 days of the tour start date.
  • All travelers from the USA must also fill out an entry form within 3 days of travel. This form can be found at www.einreiseanmeldung.de. After filling out the form you will receive a PDF confirmation, which you must bring with you to present upon check-in for your flight.

For entry to Austria, Italy, and Switzerland:

  • Please note Tauck requires guests to be fully vaccinated per the above.
  • Austria is currently open to Americans who show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test result. Use the same proof as described above. Travelers under the age of 16 are exempt from these requirements. Please note that for Austria, the validity of vaccination ends 360 days after the second dose of a two-dose vaccine, or 270 days after a one-dose vaccine.   
  • Italy is currently open to Americans who show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test result. Use the same proof as described above. Additionally all guests will need to take COVID test in advance of arrival. Tauck will organize and cover the cost of this test on tour. Finally, all travelers must fill in a Passenger Locator Form at https://app.euplf.eu/#/. Your Tauck Director can assist with this form on tour.
  • Switzerland is currently open to Americans who show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test result. Use the same proof as described above. Travelers under the age of 16 are exempt from these requirements.
  • A US CDC Vaccine Record Card is now accepted in place of the Swiss COVID-19 Certificate as proof of vaccination to enter indoor dining venues and some leisure facilities in Switzerland.

  • A negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken within 3 days of your flight is required for entry into the US after your trip. Arrangements for this testing will be made by Tauck at an additional cost (approximately $100 USD) to guests.

Therefore, we recommend that you carry your vaccination card with you at all times. In cases where the US CDC card is not accepted, you may have to take a rapid test onsite before entry.

For entry to Portugal:

  • All travelers, including vaccinated travelers, must bring proof of a negative NAAT (including RT-PCR) COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the time of departure to Portugal, or a negative antigen COVID-19 test taken within 24 hours of the time of departure to Portugal. Your health and safety remain our number one priority while you are traveling with us on Botswana, South Africa & Zambia. The below travel requirements are mandated by Zambia, Botswana and South Africa and are applicable to all Tauck guests without exception:

  • Passports must have two consecutive open pages and be valid for at least six months after travel.

For entry to Zambia:

  • All travelers must show a negative PCR COVID-19 test result obtained within 72 hours of their arrival. Vaccination does not exempt travelers from this requirement.
  • All travelers will undergo a temperature check upon arrival.
  • All travelers will need to fill out a contract tracing document on arrival to Zambia, listing their passport information and travel details.
  • Tauck recommends that US citizens purchase their visa upon arrival. The cost is $50 USD per person for a single-entry visa.

For entry to Botswana:

  • All travelers must show proof of a negative result from a PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of their arrival. Guests will stop for their PCR test upon arrival in Livingstone, South Africa, on Day 1 for the crossing into Botswana on Day 3. The cost of this test is covered by Tauck.
  • All travelers will undergo a temperature check upon arrival.
  • All travelers will need to fill out a contract tracing document on arrival to Botswana, listing their passport information and travel details.
  • Botswana does not require visas for US citizens.

For entry to South Africa:

  • All travelers must show proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test result from within 72 hours of their arrival. The flight on Day 7 between Eagle Island and Camp Kalahari will stop in the city of Maun, where Tauck will organize a PCR test for travel on Day 9. The cost of this test is covered by Tauck.
  • All travelers will undergo a temperature check upon arrival.
  • A visa is not require for US citizens.

For return to the United States:

  • All guests will need to take a COVID-19 test on Day 11 at the One & Only Cape Town Hotel. The cost of this test is R400 South Africa Rand (approximately $28 USD per person). This test will fulfill the CDC requirement for entry into the United States. Guests can pay in USD, South African Rand, or with credit card. If a PCR test is needed for an alternate destination, this can be provided at a cost of R950 (approximately $68 USD per person).

Kenya & Tanzania: A Classic Safari

For entry to Tanzania

  • Tanzania requires all travelers to bring proof of a negative result from a PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of arrival. This test is required regardless of vaccination status.
  • A rapid COVID-19 test will be administered to all guests upon arrival in Tanzania. The cost is $25 per person. This can be prepaid (recommended to avoid standing in line to pay) on the site of the Traveler’s Health Surveillance Form noted below.
  • All guests are required to fill in a Traveler’s Health Surveillance Form (https://afyamsafiri.moh.go.tz/) within 24 hours of arrival to Tanzania. Guests will provide their passport information and travel details and can prepay their rapid COVID-19 test. They will receive a unique Health Code confirmation email that they will present upon arrival in Tanzania.
  • All travelers will undergo a temperature check upon arrival.
  • US citizens can purchase a Tanzania tourist visa can be purchased upon arrival, or online at https://eservices.immigration.go.tz/visa/. The cost for single entry is $100 USD per person. 

For entry to Kenya

  • Please note that a Yellow Fever vaccination or a doctor’s note is still required to enter Kenya.
  • A negative PCR COVID-19 test result will be needed within 96 hours of arrival to Kenya on Day 7. Guests will stop at the Seronera airstrip, where a testing facility has been created, during their game drive on Day 6. The cost of this test will be covered by Tauck.
  • US Citizens must purchase their Kenya tourist visa online: http://evisa.go.ke/evisa.html The cost for single entry is $51 USD per person.
  • All travelers will undergo a temperature check upon arrival in Kenya.

For return to the United States:

  • All travelers departing Kenya must perform a PCR COVID-19 test. Additionally, all travelers flying into the US will need to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 3 days of departure. Guests will undergo a PCR COVID-19 test on Day 11 for flights home on Day 13. Guests with post-stays can do the test on Day 12 or 13. The cost is $150 USD per person and must be paid in cash.

Mountain Gorilla Safari: Kenya, Tanzania & Rwanda

Guests will receive a unique Health Code confirmation that they will present upon arrival in Rwanda.
  • A PCR COVID-19 test will also be given at the Kigali airport upon arrival into Rwanda. Tauck will cover the cost of this test.

For return to the United States:

  • For exit, Rwanda requires a PCR COVID-19 test within 72-hours of departure. We will have PCR tests conducted at One & Only Gorilla’s Nest 48 hours in advance of departure at a cost of $60 USD per person for any guests who have flights that will not fall into the 72 hours from our arrival when a PCR test was administered at the Kigali airport. This test will also fulfill the CDC testing requirement to enter the United States.

For Entry into South Africa:

  • South Africa does not require visas for US citizens.
  • Passports must have two consecutive open pages and be valid at least six months after travel for to South Africa and Zimbabwe.
  • South Africa requires all travelers to print and fill out an entrance and exit questionnaire at https://www.airports.co.za/Documents/ENTRY%20SCREENING%20THQ.pdf .
  • On arrival, travelers will need to present a negative PCR or antigen COVID-19 test result not older than 72 hours from the time of their departure for South Africa. Vaccination does not exempt travelers from this requirement. Note that Tauck requires a PCR test for unvaccinated guests.
  • All travelers will undergo a temperature check upon arrival to South Africa.

For Entry into Zimbabwe:

  • The visa required for Zimbabwe will be purchased by the Tauck Director for each guest.
  • All travelers arriving at Victoria Falls Airport are required to present a negative PCR COVID-19 test result obtained within 48 hours prior to arrival in Zimbabwe. Tauck will organize PCR tests in Johannesburg on Day 8 for the flight on Day 10 to Zimbabwe. Tauck will cover the cost of this test.
  • All travelers will undergo a temperature check upon arrival to Zimbabwe.
  • All travelers will need to fill out a contract tracing document on arrival to Zimbabwe, listing their passport information and travel details.
  • For exit from Johannesburg for flights home on Day 12, Tauck will organize a PCR COVID-19 test screening the morning of Day 11 in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. The cost of the test is $60 USD per person. This test will also fulfill the CDC requirement for entry into the United States.

Egypt: Jewels of the Nile

Your health and safety remain our number one priority while you are traveling with us on Egypt: Jewels of the Nile. The below travel requirements are mandated by Egypt and apply to all Tauck guests without exception:

  • Regardless of vaccination status, Tauck requires that all American travelers to Egypt bring proof of a negative result from a RT-PCR COVID-19 test taken within 96 hours of the departure time of the last direct flight to Egypt. Egypt generally accepts proof of vaccination for entry into the country instead of a negative test, but they currently do not accept the US CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card as a valid form of proof.
  • The RT-PCR test result must be issued with an official stamp from a laboratory or with a QR code. The original paper certificate must be presented (no photocopies or digital images). Please note that Egypt does not accept other types of tests, such as ID NOW, PCR-NAA or any of the Antigen or Antibody tests.
  • For exit from Egypt, a negative PCR COVID-19 test result is required by the airlines to allow boarding. Tauck will organize this test for all guests. The cost is approximately $130 USD or EGP 2000 per person to be paid in cash or with credit card directly. This test will also fulfill the CDC requirement for entry into the United States, if the test is taken within 3 days of your departing flight.

Jordan & Egypt: Petra to the Pyramids

Your health and safety remain our number one priority while you are traveling with us on Jordan & Egypt: Petra to the Pyramids. The below travel requirements are mandated by Jordan and Egypt and are applicable to all Tauck guests without exception:

For entry to Jordan:

  • All travelers must bring proof of COVID-19 vaccination, such as the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, indicating full COVID-19 vaccination (14 days after receiving the final dose).
  • Additionally, all travelers must bring proof of a negative result from a PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of boarding the aircraft from the first point of departure to Jordan. Both forms of proof must be shown at time of boarding.
  • All guests must bring proof of valid health insurance. This must be shown at the time of boarding.
  • All travelers must fill out the Travel to Jordan Declaration Form at https://www.gateway2jordan.gov.jo/form/ to receive a QR code for entry. The QR code is to be shown at the airline counter before boarding. All guests must upload their proof of vaccination on www.gateway2jordan.gov.jo in advance of departure.

For entry to Egypt:

  • Egypt requires all travelers to bring proof of a negative result from a PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of arrival. Tauck will organize and cover the cost of this test.
  • For exit from Egypt, a negative PCR COVID-19 test result is required by the airlines to allow boarding. Tauck will organize this test for all guests. The cost is approximately $130 USD or EGP 2000 per person to be paid in cash or with credit card directly. This test will also fulfill the CDC requirement for entry into the United States, if the test is taken within 3 days of your departing flight.

Magic of Morocco

For entry to Morocco:

  • Morocco does not require visas for US citizens staying less than 90-days.
  • All travelers must present proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, such as the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, indicating that you are fully vaccinated and have received the final required dose no sooner than 14 days prior to arrival to Morocco.
  • Additionally, we recommend that all travelers, including vaccinated travelers, bring proof of a negative result from a PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of arrival, in case there are last-minute changes to entry policy.
  • All travelers must fill in a Health Passenger Form in advance of travel. This form is located at http://www.onda.ma/form.php, detailing passport information and travel details. For the address and phone number in Morocco, guests should list the first hotel, La Tour Hassan Hotel, 26 Rue Chellah, Rabat, phone number +2125 3723 9000. At the bottom of the online form you will find an orange button. Click to print the form to sign and bring along for entry to Morocco.
  • All travelers will undergo a temperature check upon arrival.

For exit from Morocco and entry to the United States:

  • Guests will undergo a rapid COVID-19 test at the Four Seasons in Marrakech on the afternoon of Day 8, for flights out on Day 10. The cost is Dh1500 Moroccan Dirham (approximately $150 USD). This test will also fulfil the CDC requirement for entry into the United States, if taken within 3 days of departure to the US, but they require 24 hours to process.
  • For guests traveling on to other locations that might require a PCR test, these tests are also available for Dh700 Moroccan Dirham (approximately $70 USD).
  • Tests can be paid in local currency or credit card.
Latin America

Antarctica

Your health and safety remain our number one priority while you are traveling with us on Antarctica. The below travel requirements are mandated by Argentina and our ship partner Ponant and are applicable to all Tauck guests without exception:

For entry to Argentina:

  • Argentina is currently closed to non-resident foreign nationals. However, Tauck feels confident that the country will be open to tourists before our first Antarctica departure on 7 December 2021. Please check back here or our Travel Updates page to get the most current status.

Ponant has the following requirements:

  • All guests must be fully vaccinated 14 days before embarkation to sail aboard our Ponant ship.
  • Please note that Ponant may be required to administer additional COVID-19 tests during the course of the cruise. They will organize and cover the cost of these tests.

For return to the United States:

  • All travelers flying into the US will still need a negative COVID-19 test taken within 3 days of their return flight. These tests will be available aboard ship at an additional cost.

  • Health Pass Form - All guests must complete Costa Rica’s Health Pass online, available at https://salud.go.cr. This must be filled out within 72 hours/3 days before arriving in Costa Rica. After completion of the form, you will receive a QR code that must be carried on your mobile phone or printed out on paper to be allowed to pass through the entry airport.
  • As of 1 August 2021, Vaccinated guests will not have to bring proof of travel insurance but must bring proof, such as the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Card, of full vaccination against COVID-19, with the last required dose received at least 14 days before entry to Costa Rica. Moderna, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, or Johnson & Johnson vaccines are accepted.
  • All unvaccinated guests aged 18 and over must have mandatory travel insurance providing the following benefits:
    • $50,000 USD for medical expenses, including COVID-19
    • $2,000 USD  for lodging expenses in the event of COVID-19 quarantine
    • Coverage must be valid for your entire stay in Costa Rica
  • For guests with Tauck’s Guest Protection plan, Tauck will purchase on your behalf a specifically designed coverage that will meet the COVID-19 insurance entry requirement for Costa Rica. This supplemental travel insurance will be purchased through the Aon's Pro Plus Plan. Tauck Guest Relations will call you and purchase this plan with you on the phone. You will subsequently receive an email confirmation to provide as proof on your Costa Rica Health Pass form.
  • For guests without Tauck’s Guest Protection Plan:
    • If your insurance covers these requirements, you must request a letter from the insurance company indicating your name, effective dates of the policy, and the amount of coverage as required above, and that the benefits specifically cover COVID-19.
    • If your insurance does not cover these requirements, you must purchase a supplement plan to meet the requirements. Costa Rica recommends one of the below Costa Rican insurance companies.
    • Visit www.visitcostarica.com to ensure your travel insurance meets all necessary entry requirements.
  • A negative COVID-19 test result taken within 72 hours of your flight is required for entry into the US after your trip. This will take place on Day 6 in Liberia en route to your hotel. The cost of this test is $50 per person.

Cruising the Galápagos Islands

The below travel requirements are mandated by Ecuador, the Galápagos National Park, our cruise partner Metropolitan Touring and the CDC; they apply to all Tauck guests without exception:

Ecuador has the following entry requirements:

  • All guests must provide one of the following: 1) A government-issued certificate, such as the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, indicating that you are fully vaccinated and received the final required dose at least14 days prior to entry to Ecuador, or 2) A negative result from a PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to your arrival in Ecuador.
  • Please note that unvaccinated minors (age 2 or older) will need to provide proof of a negative result from a PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival in Ecuador.
  • All guests must complete a Health Declaration. This form will be distributed on the flight to Ecuador.
  • All guests will undergo a medical screening upon arrival in Ecuador, including a temperature check.

Galápagos National Park and our cruise partner, Metropolitan Touring, have additional requirements for entry/embarkation:

  • Fully vaccinated guests will need to show the proof of vaccination used to enter Ecuador.
  • All unvaccinated guests (including minors) must have a negative PCR COVID-19 test result taken within 72 hours of the flight departure time to Galápagos National Park. If you are arriving in Ecuador such that the flight to the Galapagos on Day 2 is within 72 hours of the COVID-19 test you used for entry to Ecuador, you can use this same test to fulfill the requirement for the Galapagos. If not, you will need to take a PCR test after arrival. Our ship partner, Metropolitan Touring, will organize and administer this test at Tauck’s hotel at no additional cost to the guest.
  • All guests will need to show proof of travel insurance with medical coverage. If you have purchased Tauck’s Cruise Protection plan, it fulfills the requirement. You will need to print a copy of your policy, which is on the last page of your Personal Documents. For return to the US:

Galápagos: Wildlife Wonderland

Silversea Requirements:

  • Silversea is requiring proof of full COVID-19 vaccination. Guests must bring a government-issued certificate, such as the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, indicating that you are fully vaccinated and received the final required dose at least14 days prior to the start of this tour.

For entry to Peru:

  • All travelers must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, such as the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, with the last dose administered at least 14 days in advance of arrival to Peru.
  • All travelers must present a negative test result from an RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours of their departure flight to Peru.
  • Guests must also fill out a sworn statement online within 72 hours of your flight. This form is required for each individual traveling, including minors.
