LATEST TRAVEL UPDATES AND TESTING REQUIREMENTS (UPDATED JANUARY 14, 2022)

Updated January 14, 2022

COVID-19 Travel Requirements

The below provides an overview of Tauck's requirements and those of the countries we visit, along with our supplier partners who have implemented their own COVID policies that may go beyond Tauck's requirements. The trip-specific guidelines are for U.S. travelers.

Up-to-date destination entry requirements will be posted 60 days prior to the first seasonal departure for each tour or cruise series. For journeys not yet posted below, please visit our Travel Updates page. As entry requirement change frequently, please check this page often.

Tauck's COVID-19 Requirements

  • Tauck requires all guests ages 12 and older to be vaccinated and to carry proof, such as the CDC Vaccination Record Card, with them at all times while traveling with Tauck.
  • Although highly recommended, vaccination is not required for minors under age 12; however, they must present a negative result from a PCR test taken within three days of departing for their Tauck trip.
  • Additionally, we highly recommend that all guests traveling internationally take a PCR test within 72 hours of departing to help ensure smooth travels.
  • Tauck requires all guests to sign a Travel Well Pledge and a Waiver of Liability for COVID-19 on the first day of their trip. Additional information on these agreements can be found here.

Increasingly, countries are requiring a booster dose to be considered "fully vaccinated." Because this is evolving quickly, and the acceptable duration of time following the initial COVID vaccination varies across these countries, it is important that you carefully check the most recent entry requirements (listed below) for your tour or cruise.

Please note that the United States continues to require a PCR or antigen test within 1day of your return flight. Your Tauck Director will help make the arrangements.

An excellent resource for entry requirements for non- U.S. travelers is the CIBT Entry Guide.

  • All guests must provide a government-issued certificate, such as the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, indicating that you are fully vaccinated and received the final required dose at least14 days prior to entry to Ecuador.
  • All guests must also provide a laboratory-issued negative result from a PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to your departure to Ecuador. Please note: If you are arriving on Day 1 of the tour after 5pm, you must take your PCR test within 48 hours of your departure to Ecuador in order to fulfill the requirement for Galapagos National Park.
  • Please note that unvaccinated minors (age 2 or older) will need to provide proof of a negative result from a PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to departure to Ecuador.
  • All guests must complete a Health Declaration and have a printed copy of it for your flight to Ecuador. One form is needed per family group. You can download this form at https://www.salud.gob.ec/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/formulario_de_salud_del_viajero_.pdf.
  • All guests will undergo a medical screening upon arrival in Ecuador, including a temperature check.
  • Entry to Ecuador is prohibited for travelers who started their journeys in or transited through South Africa, Botswana, Egypt, Mozambique, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Eswatini and Namibia.

Galápagos National Park and our cruise partner, Metropolitan Touring, have additional requirements for entry/embarkation:

  • All guests will need to show proof of travel insurance with medical coverage. If you have purchased Tauck's Cruise Protection plan, it fulfills the requirement. You will need to print a copy of your policy, which is on the last page of your Personal Documents. Your Tauck Director will provide additional documentation for you and identify you as the beneficiary of the insurance. If you did not purchase Tauck's Cruise Protection plan, you will need documentation showing travel insurance with medical coverage, or primary care medical insurance, with coverage in Ecuador. No minimum benefit is required.
  • Fully vaccinated guests will need to show the proof of vaccination used to enter Ecuador.
  • All guests (including unvaccinated minors through age 11) must have a negative PCR COVID-19 test result taken within 72 hours of the flight departure time to Galápagos National Park. If you are arriving in Ecuador such that the flight to the Galapagos on Day 2 is within 72 hours of the COVID-19 test you used for entry to Ecuador, you can use this same test to fulfill the requirement for the Galapagos. If not, you will need to take a PCR test after arrival. Our ship partner, Metropolitan Touring, will organize and administer this test at Tauck's hotel at no additional cost to the guest. Please note: If you are arriving on Day 1 of the tour after 5pm, it will not be possible to test upon arrival. Therefore you must take your initial test to enter Ecuador within 48 hours of your flight to Ecuador in order to fulfill the requirement for Galapagos National Park.

For return to the US:

  • A negative result from a COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken within 1 day of your flight (the day before your flight) is required for entry into the US after your trip. Arrangements for antigen testing will be made by Tauck at no additional cost to the guest. If you require a PCR test instead of an antigen test due to the requirements of your destination or layover site, Tauck will make arrangements for a PCR test to be administered to you at an additional cost of approximately $65 USD or a rapid PCR test for $200 USD.
