Legendary Journeys and Adventures

Tauck’s classic four-island journey across Hawaii incorporates natural and historical sights, exclusive cultural experiences, and free days to pursue your own passions on Oahu, the Big Island of Hawaii, Kauai and Maui.

Stay in ocean-view rooms at some of Hawaii's finest oceanfront resorts; have a hands-on gourmet cooking experience at a renowned restaurant on Maui; experience one of the most poignant chapters of World War II history at the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor; take a private catamaran sail at sunset on the Big Island; hear a "talk-story" from a beach boy; take an outrigger ride along Waikiki Beach; attend a traditional luau on Maui; and enjoy a private evening highlighted by cocktails and dinner at Iolani Palace in Honolulu. Private evening at Iolani Palace

Day 2

Attend a private, after-hours tour, reception and dinner at Honolulu's Iolani Palace

Built in 1882 by King Kalakaua, Iolani Palace in Honolulu was Hawaii’s official royal residence and the Hawaiian monarchy’s seat of government until its overthrow in 1893. A National Historic Landmark since 1962 and the only official royal residence in the United States, the Palace is one of Hawaii’s most recognizable buildings; restored to its former grandeur, it evokes a time when their Majesties King Kalakaua and his sister and successor, Queen Liliuokalani, walked its grand halls. And it’s the site of a special Tauck evening featuring a private after-hours reception, tour and dinner.

Gourmet cooking on Maui

Day 10

Enjoy a hands-on gourmet cooking experience on Maui

While today’s Maui chefs do still draw upon classic Hawaiian culinary traditions including Kalua roast pork, poi (ground taro), ahi poke (raw ahi tuna), mahi-mahi and others, they take delight in the abundance of locally raised beef, tropical fruits and vegetables grown in fertile volcanic soil, and fresh fish – and preparing them with a fusion of Californian, Chinese, Polynesian, Filipino, and Korean flavors. You’re invited for a look at modern Maui cuisine during a hands-on gourmet cooking experience with local chefs during lunch at a well-known Maui restaurant.

The Royal Hawaiian

Nights 1, 2 and 3

Welcome to the “Pink Palace of the Pacific”

Built in 1927, the Royal Hawaiian – a.k.a. the “Pink Palace of the Pacific” – is a Honolulu landmark of luxury situated directly on Waikiki Beach, offering panoramic views of Diamond Head and the Pacific Ocean, two pools and a private beach area. This elegant Grande Dame has been welcoming guests to Waikiki for over 90 years, providing a gracious introduction to traditional Hawaii with its prime beachfront location and charming Old World ambiance.

Hawaii is my idea of Paradise, beautiful islands, gorgeous resorts, friendly people. The trip had a nice balance of organized activities and leisure time.

The hotels were truly fantastic. The trip leader was excellent, very knowledgable and very pleasant. The Best of Hawaii should include more visits to the sights instead of too much leisure time. In Oahu, a visit to the Missouri would have been lovely. Another example is the drive to Hana on Maui. Lunch or dinner should be included every day.

Most Memorable Moment:

The helicopter rides that I took extra. Amazing topology on the Big Island.

Hawaii is my idea of Paradise, beautiful islands, gorgeous resorts, friendly people. The trip went smoothly, had a nice balance of organized activities and leisure time. The luau can use an improvement, the food was not up to Tauck standards, or for that matter The Fairmont standards, (their breakfast buffet is fabulous)

Most Memorable Moment:

The helicopter flights in Hawaii and Kauai.
