Norwegian Fjords & Coastal Treasures begins in either Oslo or Bergen. In Bergen explore the historic Bryggen port... visit the Norwegian Fisheries Museum... explore picturesque Lake Loen and Kjendallsbreen glacier... at spectacular Geiranger Fjord, a day's touring and a mountain gondola ride surround you with inspiring vistas... sail through fjord land, alighting in Ålesund for scenic views, or a guided walking tour... get a real taste of local life in Norway's oil capital, Stavanger... visit the Norwegian Petroleum Museum and Iron Age Farm for insights into the Vikings... sail to Göteborg, Sweden, and check out the Volvo Museum... discover Oslo's Fram Museum and much more!  Read Less

Norway's Fram Museum

Chronicling some of Norway's most famous and important polar expeditions

Built to commemorate Norway's participation during the heroic age of exploration, the Fram Museum is filled with the stories and historical artifacts that came out of this period. And located right in the very center of it all is the namesake of the museum itself, Fram, which is actually the name of a wooden polar ship that was used on three historic expeditions, including Roald Amundsen's voyage to Antarctica. Nicknamed the " world's strongest wooden ship", the Fram has been preserved since the mid-1930s and you'll have an opportunity during your visit to board this intrepid vessel and get a glimpse inside a 19th-century sea vessel including its cabins, lounges, cargo hold and engine room.

Grand Hotel Oslo

For nearly 150 years, a grand experience at an Oslo icon

Everyone deserves to feel grand… like the guest experience you'll have at Grand Hotel Olso, based on true Nordic luxury delivered by a well-trained and enthusiastic international team. Norway's most prestigious luxury hotel first opened its doors in 1874, and has been host to the people of Norway, international guests, world leaders, celebrities and the Nobel Peace Prize laureates ever since.

Jostadlasbreen

A choice of excursions bring you to Jostadlasbreen

Today's excursions across Norway culminate with a stop and view of Jostadlasbreen, the largest glacier on continental Europe. With a total area of 487 square kilometers, this monstrous glacier is home to both Kjendall Glacier and Briksdalbre, one of which you'll have the opportunity to go to today.

Fantastic scenery — the waterfall, mountains, quaint and historic sites, great food onboard the ship, wonderful service on board, and staff were friendly and very competent.

Covid Travel Requirements

The below provides an overview of Tauck's requirements and those of the countries we visit, along with our supplier partners who have implemented their own Covid policies that may go beyond Tauck's requirements. The trip-specific guidelines are for U.S. travelers.

Up-to-date destination entry requirements will be posted 60 days prior to the first seasonal departure for each tour or cruise series. For journeys not yet posted below, please visit our Travel Requirements page. As entry requirement change frequently, please check often.

Tauck 2024 Covid Policy

For 2024 tours and cruises, Tauck has no remaining Covid requirements. There is no vaccination requirement or travel pledge to be signed. This 2024 policy could change if there is a surge in infection rates or other factors that could impact the safety of our guests and employees.

Tauck 2023 Covid Policy

  • Vaccination Requirement: All Tauck guests age 12 and older must be fully vaccinated. Additionally, you must have had at least one booster dose and/or have proof of recovery from Covid.
  • Requirements for Minors: Though highly recommended, vaccination for minors age 11 and under is not required by Tauck. However, if unvaccinated they must present a negative result from either a PCR or antigen test taken within 3 days of departing for their Tauck trip. If a child age 11 or under is vaccinated but not boosted, they must also present a negative test prior to their Tauck trip.
  • Tauck Travel Agreement: Tauck requires all guests to sign our Travel Well Pledge. Your Tauck Director will provide this document for your signature on the first day of your trip, and will check your proof of vaccination and booster/or proof of recovery. Additional information can be found at here.

To ensure the safety of your fellow travelers and the communities we visit, all guests must follow health and safety protocols when necessitated by local health guidance or our supplier partners. Your Tauck Director will keep you informed of these local requirements.

Although not required by Tauck, some countries may require a pre-travel Covid test. It is important that you carefully check the most recent entry requirements (listed below) for your tour or cruise.

Additional Destination Requirements

Your health and safety remain our number one priority while you are traveling with us on Norwegian Fjords & Coastal Treasures. The below travel requirements are mandated by Norway, and Sweden, and our ship partner Ponant and are applicable to all Tauck guests without exception:

  • All Tauck guests age 12 and older must be fully vaccinated and have had at least one booster dose and/or have proof of recovery from Covid. Although highly recommended, vaccination for minors age 11 and under is not required by Tauck. However, if unvaccinated they must present a negative result from either a PCR or antigen test taken within 3 days of departing for their Tauck trip. If a child age 11 or under is vaccinated but not boosted, they must also present a negative test prior to their Tauck trip.
  • We strongly encourage guests to check the requirements for any transit/layover destinations that will be part of your journey.

For entry into Norway and Sweden:

  • These countries no longer have any Covid-19 entry requirements.

To embark Le Dumont d'Urville:

  • All travelers age 6 and over must be fully vaccinated with all required doses of an EU-authorized vaccine. The time between the first two doses must not exceed 4 months. A booster is required within 9 months of the final required dose of a two-dose vaccine. If your vaccination consists of a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, a booster is required after two months of this dose and it must be a mRNA booster. Getting a second booster is advised but not necessary at this time.
  • Note that although Tauck makes allowances for unvaccinated guests under age 12 to travel with a negative PCR or antigen test, Ponant requires vaccination for all travelers ages 6 and over.
  • In lieu of a negative test result and/or a booster shot, guests who have recently recovered from Covid-19 may present a Certificate of Recovery and proof of a positive PCR or laboratory-issued antigen test result (self-tests not accepted) taken between 11-270 days prior to the sail date in order to board.
  • All guests must provide proof of a negative Covid-19 test in order to board the Ponant ship.  The negative result may be from a PCR test taken no more than three days prior to embarkation, or from an antigen test taken no more than one day prior to embarkation.  However, Tauck requires that you take a PCR test BEFORE traveling to Norway (within 72 hours of embarkation on Day 2).
  • Please do not travel to Norway without receiving a negative test result in advance of travel. Should you test positive while in Norway, you will not be allowed to embark the ship, and may need to find accommodations while making arrangements to return home.  Hotel rooms are extremely difficult to obtain during the country's brief peak tourism season.
  • If you are arriving early in Norway (one or more days before the start of your Tauck journey), you may need to re-test in order to meet the boarding requirements noted above.  Should you need to re-test, you will need to make an appointment for a test at Dr Dropin Bergen, located at Valkendorfsgaten 2A, 5012 Bergen. You must book an appointment online at https://drdropin.no. The phone number of the lab is +47 24 07 77 01 and the email address is hei@drdropin.no. You will pay for your test via credit card, and the cost of an antigen test is approximately $70 USD, while the cost of a standard PCR is approximately $101 USD. A rapid PCR test is available for approximately $193 USD.
  • Please note that additional Covid tests may be needed in select ports during the cruise to meet local regulatory requirements. If needed, Ponant will administer these tests and Tauck will cover the cost.

For return to the United States:

  • The U.S. no longer has any specific Covid entry requirements.

The final entry requirements will be clearly outlined in your Personal Travel Documents
