Legendary Journeys and Adventures

Quintessentially New England, Cape Cod captivates with a legacy of coastal delights, distinctively appetizing with traditional clambakes, whale watches thoroughly exhilarating, shore towns colonial in nature and historically rich and lighthouses that stand watch to guide mariners ashore. Its nearby islands, windswept and welcoming with oceanfront beaches and gabled houses that have weathered the centuries, each have their own tales to tell.

From Boston's historic streets to the coastal landscapes of Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Newport, this journey traces the maritime heritage and evolving character of New England. Travel from the city to the Cape, where seaside villages, working harbors, and open shoreline define daily life, with opportunities to experience the region through its landscapes, traditions, and local flavors. Continue on to New Bedford, once a center of the American whaling industry, before arriving in Newport, where grand estates and oceanfront settings reflect a later chapter of coastal prosperity. Along the way, enjoy guided visits, time to explore at your own pace, and experiences that reveal both the history and present-day spirit of these distinctive destinations. Read Less

Fairmont Copley Plaza

Tauck Exclusive after-hours visit to The Breakers

A step on the high society stage

During the Gilded Age, when railroads and industry rapidly transformed the United States, families like the Vanderbilts, Rockefellers, Carnegies, and Morgans escaped the heat and bustle of Manhattan for the cool coastal shores of Newport. Their lavish summer retreats transformed this Rhode Island city into a playground for High Society. Competing to outdo one another, these titans of industry built grand European-inspired limestone palaces overlooking the Atlantic. Among the most spectacular was The Breakers, Cornelius Vanderbilt II's 48-bedroom summer residence, a stunning showcase of wealth, influence, and architectural grandeur. Enjoy a Tauck Exclusive after-hours visit to The Breakers, when the mansion is closed to the public. Explore its opulent halls, soaring ceilings, and lavishly decorated rooms at your own pace, experiencing one of America's most iconic Gilded Age estates.

The Sailing Museum & National Sailing Hall of Fame

A New England tradition

White sails billowing in the wind on the Atlantic's navy waters have long been an image symbolizing the New England way of life. Spanning more than 400 years in this coastal region – from colonial trade to the golden age of whaling to the prestigious America's Cup held just off the shores of Newport – there's a rich history tied to sailing. In Newport, the "Sailing Capital of the World," step into The Sailing Museum & National Sailing Hall of Fame for a fascinating introduction to the sport's evolution and its enduring impact on the region. Interactive exhibits, hands-on experiences, and stories of legendary sailors bring to life the innovation, competition, and adventure that have shaped sailing through the centuries.

A farewell dinner at 41 North

Raise a glass to an unforgettable New England journey during a farewell dinner at 41° North, a stylish waterfront restaurant overlooking Newport Harbor. Savor fresh, locally inspired cuisine as sailboats drift across the water and the lights of the harbor begin to twinkle at dusk. With its relaxed coastal atmosphere and scenic setting, it's the perfect place to reflect on the memorable experiences, historic landmarks, and seaside charm you've discovered throughout your travels.
