Exclusively Inclusive River Cruising

Begin with a taste of Portugal shaped by river and hillside. In Porto, colorful houses stack above the Douro, tiled façades catch the light, and cafés spill onto cobbled streets where the city's wine legacy was born. As the river carries you inland, the scenery softens into vineyard-covered slopes and quiet villages perched along the water's edge – an ever-changing landscape of stone, green terraces, and sunlit bends.

On our shortest Douro River cruise, just six days, journey through the world's oldest demarcated wine region and explore the towns and landscapes that make this valley a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Roundtrip from Porto, where the Douro meets the Atlantic, begin in the city that introduced Port wine to the world and stroll among its picture-postcard houses that climb the hillsides. As you sail past rolling vineyards, enjoy immersive encounters with vine and grape — from learning the region's history at the Douro Museum in Peso da Régua, to making Port cocktails at a local quinta, biking through vineyards that produce Vinho Verde, and sampling those very wines at a vineyard… a memorable way to experience this renowned river and its wines in under a week.

Dinner at DOC

Taste, Dare, and Communicate

Located in Folgosa and perched along the river between Régua and Pinhão in the breathtaking Douro Valley, DOC is one of three restaurants owned by Michelin-starred chef Rui Paula. Drawing inspiration from his northeastern roots and cherished family traditions, Paula blends fresh, riverside ingredients with the flavors of his childhood to create bold, surprising tastes amidst stunning scenic views. Dining here is an immersive cultural experience through the heart of Portuguese cuisine, a story told through aromas, textures, and memories that linger long after the last bite.

Vinho Verde

The land of green wines

Not a grape but a region, Vinho Verde ("green wine") comes from Portugal's lush northwest – geographically influenced by the Atlantic. "Green" means young — these crisp whites, reds and rosés are bottled just a few months after harvest for a bright, lively taste. Mostly white but also made in red and rosé styles, these wines are light, aromatic and often have a gentle natural sparkle. In addition to its signature youthful whites, the Vinho Verde region produces sparkling wines, late-harvest styles and even a distinctive brandy. Each sip reflects centuries of tradition combined with modern winemaking for a most memorable taste of this Portuguese region.

Guimarães – The cradle of Portugal

Where a nation was born

Often called the birthplace of the Portuguese nation, Guimarães is where Afonso Henriques, Portugal's first king, secured independence after the Battle of São Mamede in 1128. Its well-preserved medieval core, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, reflects the city's importance with landmarks like the Castle of Guimarães and the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza. Walking its narrow lanes is to glimpse the early chapters of Portugal's national story.
