Cultural journeys and expeditions

Tracing the coastline of the Sea of Japan, this immersive journey showcases Japan and South Korea through a seamless blend of history, artistry, and contemporary life. Begin with two nights in Tokyo, discovering serene shrines and dynamic neighborhoods before boarding the Shinkansen to Osaka to embark on an 8-night cruise aboard Le Soléal.

Cruise to culturally rich ports including Tamano and nearby Kurashiki, sacred Miyajima and Hiroshima, the hot springs of Beppu, pearl-farming Uwajima, the preserved castle town of Hagi, and the fishing port of Sakaiminato. Cross to Busan for a glimpse of Korea's colorful coastal character, then continue by high-speed rail to Seoul for three nights exploring royal palaces, traditional hanok architecture, and lively markets. Throughout the journey, regional cuisine and authentic experiences offer a true taste of life along these storied shores.

The Heartbeat of Japan: A Taiko Drumming Experience

The Heartbeat of Japan: A Taiko Drumming Experience

Feel the pulse of Japan in a taiko drumming experience that's equal parts music, movement, and tradition. With a master drummer guiding the group, you'll learn the fundamentals—stance, timing, and the crisp, full-bodied strike that turns a wooden stick into thunder—then build toward a rhythm that's as communal as it is exhilarating. Taiko isn't just heard; it's felt in your chest and in the synchronized breath of the ensemble, a spirited art form with roots in festival life and ceremonial performance. Whether you're a natural percussionist or simply game to try, you'll come away newly attuned to the joy—and discipline—behind one of Japan's most iconic sounds.
