I believe this has been my favorite trip with Tauck. It was very intense, with lots of traveling, and quite a bit of climbing and walking on uneven surface- considering where we were this was part of it. The guides were fantastic, and in addition to being a wealth of information, they made sure we took care to stay hydrated and to pace ourselves
Most Memorable Moment:
We were so fortunate to be at Machu Picchu on Easter Sunday. The weather was perfect. Even though Sunday is a free day for locals, hardly anybody was there. It was like we had the place to ourselves. What a wonderful experience, breathtaking views and outstanding guides who were so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Four hours flew by!
This was our 7th Tauck trip and the most challenging. There is no doubt that Machu Pichu and Lake Titicaca are standouts in the world and we feel privileged to have been able to see them. Our weather was outstanding for the entire trip. We prepared for cold and rain and got neither. The altitude was particularly challenging.
Most Memorable Moment:
As we were about to enter Bolivia we were stopped by protesters (or bandits?) 7 times. When they came on the bus it was a bit disconcerting . We were allowed to proceed after a long delay and the payment of money. We were not aware that this was a possibility in Peru. Our tour guides did a fine job negotiating our safe passage to Bolivia.
