WILTON, CT (April 30, 2019) With the first performances of Oberammergau's renowned Passion Play still a year away, Tauck is issuing "last call" for anyone who wants to experience the once-every-decade spectacle with the company. In all, Tauck is featuring the Passion Play on three of its 2020 land tours and three of its river cruise itineraries next year, and of the six journeys, the only one left with available space is the company's new "Swiss Highlands & Bavarian Alps" land tour.

"The interest we've seen in our Oberammergau journeys has been phenomenal," said Tauck CEO Dan Mahar, "and we feel it's important to let everyone know that we're down to just a single tour itinerary that includes the Passion Play. This is an opportunity that won't return until 2030, so anyone who's been contemplating seeing the Passion Play with Tauck should make their decision soon."

New for 2020, the eight-day "Swiss Highlands & Bavarian Alps" itinerary begins with a two-night hotel stay in Bern, Switzerland, highlighted by city sightseeing and an interactive cheese-making tour and tasting dinner in Emmental. Guests will also enjoy a Tauck-exclusive lunch inside a medieval Habsburg castle, and a guided tour and tasting at a Swiss chocolate factory.

A subsequent two-night stay in the historic Swiss town of St. Gallen includes a visit to its renowned Abbey Library of Saint Gall plus a visit and demonstration at a local textile museum. Guests then travel to Oberammergau, where they'll view the Passion Play from the best available Category 1 seating before enjoying an overnight stay in the region. A final two-night hotel stay in Munich includes guided city sightseeing and an excursion to the former Nazi concentration camp at Dachau.

Tauck currently has availability on its "Swiss Highlands" departures in each month from May through September of next year, with selected dates operating in the reverse (Munich-to-Bern) direction. Included in the price (from $5,490 USD/$7,140 CAD per person, double occupancy, plus airfare) are Category 1 Passion Play tickets, all sightseeing and admission to attractions, most meals and gratuities, airport transfers, luggage handling and much more.

PAIRING A LAND TOUR AND RIVER CRUISE FOR A UNIQUE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE
As part of its last call alert, Tauck is also highlighting ways its guests can combine the "Swiss Highlands" tour with a river cruise experience. The company has published a two-page flyer identifying 16 departures of the new tour next year that can be seamlessly combined "back-to-back" with an eight-day Tauck river cruise; either the company's "Romantic Rhine" or "Danube Reflections" itinerary. On half of the combinations, the "Swiss Highlands" tour concludes on the same day the river cruise begins, and with the other half, the river cruise ends on the land tour's start date.

"Pairing our 'Swiss Highlands' tour with a river cruise creates a fun and unique travel experience," said Tauck's Mahar. "By combining itineraries, guests can enjoy the effortless appeal and 'unpack-just-once' convenience of a Tauck river cruise, and experience the Passion Play plus all the other wonderful highlights included in our 'Swiss Highlands' tour. It's truly a once-in-a-decade opportunity."
