Intra India Flights and Baggage Limitations

What airline(s) is used for these flights? Econ or Biz? Thanks

Jet Airways is used for the flights on the tour. Seats are economy, but are comfortable, in flight service is very good, and none of the flights are all that long - most are under an hour. Airline is very safe and seating is similar in size and comfort to most US airlines. The Jet planes we were on (Oct 18 2013 tour) were VERY new. A few of the planes looked to be only a few months old.

Thanks for the info. Going in January and trying to minimize surprises.

Jet Airways indicates a maximum weight for checked bags for intra-India flights of 15kg which is about 33 lbs. Did they enforce this limitation? It's significantly less than most airlines.

Some of the intra-india destinations you will have to pack a duffle bag for a day or two which will be given to you while your luggage travels to next destination. The duffle bag is actually quite large - where we were able to pack our carry-on backpacks into it and basically have all our travel clothes with us.

All luggage on the intra-india flights you do not need to worry about luggage size or weight. That said - I would highly recommend packing as light as you can and leaving a LOT of empty space in luggage for things you may buy or may be given to you on the tour.

We went on the tour with 2 carry-on only bags and wound us using the duffle bags each as checked luggage on the way home.

As for your flights out of India - you will be subject to the airline weight/size limits - which may not be as high as those in the US - so do check with your airline you are booked on leaving India (non-US carriers often have smaller carry-on and checked luggage size and weight limitations).

As our tour progressed all flight arrangements ran faultlessly, but what we did notice was that our checked bags did not enjoy the same level of "respect" (if that is the correct word) on the internal flights as we have come to expect in the western world. Don't get me wrong, nothing was lost or even delayed anywhere along the line, but our cases enjoyed a more USED look by the end of the tour. Nothing to do with Tauck, of course, but I just thought a mention might be useful. You need robust luggage but perhaps your treasured top of the range might be better avoided.
Just a personal observation after what is really a terrific and in some places humbling experience. You will truly enjoy the lavish hotels, buildings and history visits but be prepared to see less affluent scenes too. You will be glad you went.........we were.
