we purchased a phone from a company called "Eurobuzz". They have a web site. It is a prepaid phone much like an American "Tracfone" where they only charge you for the minutes used. It worked well for us when we used it in the past. Also in Europe there are kiosks that do dispense prepaid disposable phones with a set amount of time. I have never used this type but maybe some other traveler could speak on that subject. The hotels do offer free WiFi and you may be able to use that service.
