We just returned from Tanzania and of the 11 in our group, 6 wore contacts (soft & hard lenses)...no problem. My suggestion would be to have good sunglasses to combat the dust issues. My sunglasses are close to the size of typical otc reader glasses and they didn't do much to stop the wind and dust; I was wishing I had brought larger ones.
