June 19th Classic Italy

Hello everyone,

My husband and I are going on the June 19th Classic Italy tour with Tauck. We are both teachers from central Pennsylvania looking forward to this wonderful trip! If you are going on the trip it would be great if you would introduce yourself. Also, is anyone staying a day or two in Sorrento before the tour starts? We are doing this and going to tour capri and was wondering if anyone was doing the same thing.
Looking forward to meeting everyone!

    Kate,
We are also taking the June 19th trip. We are arriving a day early and are considering visiting Capri with this extra time. My husband is a retired teacher (still teaching part time) and I am a retired school administrator.

Hello, my husband and I will be on the May 1 tour, but we also are planning to arrive in Sorrento early and visit Capri. Have you made your plans as to how you will get to Capri and exactly what you will do and get around while there? Would welcome you sharing any info with us. (I am a retired library/media specialist and he is retired from law enforcement so we are really looking forward to not having to go back to work after the tour!)

    Ruby & Edd and Chris,

I took this tour several years ago. At that time it departed from the Rome airport on the bus to Sorrento so we spent our extra night in Rome and had no time to go to Capri. However, last fall we took the Amalfi Coast tour which included Capri.

I believe you will stay at the Excelsior Vittoria. A lovely hotel with great views and location. If you want to go to Capri on your own, you can take the hotel elevator down to the water and walk around the pier to catch the boat. I'm sure the hotel will have the schedule. When you get off the boat there are a bunch of convertible taxis and I'm sure you can get one to take you around. Or you can probably book a tour from the hotel. the concierge should be able to help you.

If you want to book a tour in advance, try looking for Capri tours from Sorrento on the internet. Or you could go to the hotel website and e-mail the concierge.

If you go on your own, make sure the boat you take back is for Sorrento or you may wind up in Naples!

Hope these suggestions help. I'm sure you will enjoy this great tour.

    Hello everyone,

We are flying into Naples on June 17th. On the 18th we are going to go to Capri. We are taking Capri tours for an all day private tour. Here is their webpage. capri tours
They are rated #1 on tripadvisor. On the 19th we will explore Sorrento on our own.
Chris- When I found out Capri was not included on this tour I knew I wanted to go early to experience it. Rick Steves has a good show on Sorrento and Capri. Since you are flying in on the 18th if you want to see Capri you would want to do that on the 19th, but you would want to be back on time for the welcome dinner.
We are very much looking forward to this trip. This will be our first trip with Tauck. It is my second time to Italy and my husband's first. I am so excited for him to taste the amazing food!

    Hello, Kate,
Would you mind sharing with me info about the specific tour of Capri that you are taking? Is it the Capri Island tour, the Sorrento tour, or a combination. (We are on the May 1 Classic Italy tour.)
    Thanks,
    Ruby and Edd
