No it is same trip. Some of the flights on mine that ended flew back to Salt Lake City then to the east coast. The airline I went on went straight east so I only had one layover instead of 2 that was the only difference. It realy depends on your schedule and do you want Yellowstone to be at beginning of trip or end. The do it this way so the tour guide and bus just turn around.
