Recently returned from the Sicily trip. Nicole, our Tour Director, was excellent. We have taken many Tauck Tours and really enjoyed the scenery, the people, and the activities. The lower level beach and public gardens in Taormina are worth seeing on your own. The Hotel in Taormina was exceptional.

    Thank you for posting. We are taking the Sept. 6th trip and are staying the pre-tour night in Palermo and post tour night in Taormina. Other than the gardens do you have any other suggestions or recommendations (restaurants or places) to go on our own? This is our third Tauck tour -all in Italy and we loved the first two. Thanks.

    The Tour Director usually gives you suggestions for restaurants. We ate at Spinnato in Palermo and another restaurant which was a left out of the Hotel and a right, one or two blocks down. The Teatro Massimo Opera House has tours in English and was interesting. We went on the Hop On - Hop Off bus and used the Linea A and Linea B. One was in the morning and one in the afternoon. They take you around Palermo. Taormina has lots of interesting places to eat. The pizzas are round and similar to the American version and very good.
