Wilderness safari & sundowner with a wildlife expert

Day 3

Private wilderness safari & sundowner with an animal expert in a wildlife park

Nestled within the Kaibab National Forest, the town of Williams, AZ is considered one of the gateways to the Grand Canyon. Here, at the renowned Bearizona wildlife park, you’ll enjoy a private Tauck wilderness safari through dense forests of Ponderosa pine, viewing native wildlife within their natural habitats… as your local guide provides insights about the bears, cougars, bison, and other wildlife you’ll encounter. And your exciting afternoon safari is capped by an exclusive “sundowner” reception at the park – where you’re joined by a wildlife expert – followed by dinner.

Desert Botanical Garden

Day 2

Explore the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix with a local guide

Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix was founded in 1939 by a small group of passionate local citizens, including Swedish botanist Gustaf Starck, who saw the need to conserve the beautiful desert environment. Supported by social influencers such as Gertrude Divine Webster, the Garden’s presence grew. Nearly 80 years later, Desert Botanical Garden has blossomed from a dream into a living museum whose commitment to the community is to advance excellence in education, research, exhibition and conservation of desert plants of the world, with an emphasis on the Southwestern US. Today the largest botanical garden in the Southwest, featuring 50,000 plants from across the world, the Garden strives to be the world’s premier center for the display, study and understanding of desert plants and their environments.

Discover the Lowell Observatory

Day 3

Take a privately guided tour of Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, a National Historic Landmark

Established in 1894 by wealthy, Harvard-educated Bostonian Percival Lowell initially to study the possibility of life on Mars, the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff has been home to many significant discoveries that have advanced human understanding of space – including the first detection of the expanding nature of the universe, Clyde Tombaugh’s discovery of Pluto in 1930, moon mapping for the Apollo program to the moon, the rings of Uranus, atmosphere of Pluto, and many others. Enjoy a privately guided tour of this National Historic Landmark, which was named one of “The World’s 100 Most Important Places” by Time Magazine.
