Our popular riverboat northern France family vacation explores along the River Seine.

World Travel. Family Discovery.

Explore all things français along the River Seine on a remarkable family river cruise through northern France... walk through the gardens of Giverny, inspiration for many Claude Monet paintings… time travel along the beaches of Normandy for a deeper understanding of World War II and events that affected generations, past and present…

Your cruise begins in Paris with either a guided walking tour or a guided bicycle ride along the Seine, and an art-filled scavenger hunt in Musée du Louvre. In artist Claude Monet's Giverny go inside his house and discover the inspiration for his garden paintings. Hike up to Château Gaillard of Richard the Lionheart fame in Les Andelys or take a walk in a village steeped in history and country charm. All generations of your family share poignant memories exploring the beaches of Normandy, touring the American Cemetery and visiting the D-Day Academy where a hands-on visit takes you back to the year 1944 and the D-Day Invasion. In Rouen you'll see historic sites immortalized by Joan of Arc, and take a 3-D tour of the city’s Roman period. Your family goes inside Louis XIV’s gilded palace Château de Versailles to see how the royals lived, then take a walk through the gardens or abicycle tour including Marie Antoinette’s farm. All about cruising along the River Seine through northern France

World War II learnings at the D-Day Academy in Normandy

Day 5

Embark on an unforgettable journey at the D-Day Academy

Your family will get a hands-on presentation of 1944 technologies in an educational exploration of the history of the 1944 D-Day Invasion – and glean the essence of the experience of the khaki clad men and women of the "Special Generation" who liberated France in 1944. Hear the popular music of the period and broadcasts of the era's great leadters... handle wireless sets and appreciate the distinctive sounds of military engines, grinding gears and clinking tracks... see letters, original newspapers, photographs, maps and propaganda of the time... touch and compare the weapons and equipment used by Allied and Axis soldiers... and more.

A "scavenger hunt" in the Louvre

Hunt for artistic treasures with your family at the Musée du Louvre

The world’s most visited museum, the Musée du Louvre houses 35,000 works of art, dating from prehistoric days to contemporary times. Eight million people flock here each year excited to see masterpieces like Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, a resident since 1797; the Winged Victory, dating to 190 BC; the Greek goddess Venus de Milo; and other priceless paintings and sculptures too numerous to list. And this former royal palace turned treasure-filled musée is the perfect place for a fun scavenger hunt with your family!

My grandson had the best time of his life, and it was really fun seeing all the kids interact, thanks to the activities planned by the cruise directors.
