Take a trip back in time to when the talkies made history on a guided tour of Warner Bros. Studio and visit The Huntington, where rare books, art and gardens promise a feast for the senses. Tauck Exclusive – Rose Parade Float Barns

Day 2

An exclusive look behind-the-scenes at the Rose Parade Float Construction Barns

Welcoming the New Year in like nothing else, Pasadena's Rose Parade has been drawing crowds for years with its creatively designed floral floats, every visible surface ingeniously covered with flowers, bark, leaves or seeds. With Tauck, you'll see the floats close-up, both before and during the Parade. First, learn what it takes to make these amazing floats when we take you behind-the-scenes at the Parade Float Construction Barns for an up-close look at the pre-parade preparations. Then, on New Year's Day, you'll see them in their full technicolor floral glory from the best seats along the parade route; we've reserved them especially for our guests!

Tauck Exclusive – Gala New Year's Party

Day 3

Ring in the New Year with our private Gala New Year's Party

Our "Celebration of Roses" Event is highlighted by the party of the year – our Tauck Exclusive New Year's Eve extravaganza at the Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel! Dress up in your dazzling Roaring 20s best and join us for a cocktail reception followed by dinner, before dancing the night away and toasting midnight in every US time zone with a glass of champagne and a memorable rendition of "Auld Lang Syne"!

Art masterpieces & spectacular gardens – a visit to The Huntington

Day 3

Art Museum... Library... Botanical Gardens... explore The Huntington

Visit The Huntington in Pasadena, where an esteemed library of rare books and manuscripts include a Gutenberg Bible, a manuscript of the Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer, books by Marco Polo and Christopher Columbus and numerous items relating to the US Civil War; an art museum of international renown showcases the works of European and American artists in galleries awe-inspiring to behold; and manicured gardens, meticulously curated like museums, are truly memorable

Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel

A fitting base for your "Celebration of Roses" Event – Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel

If the historic Beverly Wilshire looks familiar, it might be for two reasons – its exceptional location and service – or because the hotel was the primary setting for the 1990s hit film "Pretty Woman." Originally built in 1928, the hotel has reinvented itself throughout the decades while retaining its popularity with the ever-changing "in" crowd. Located at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Rodeo Drive, you'll spend four nights in what is thought to be the best location in the heart of Beverly Hills – with designer shopping, fine dining and postcard-worthy views at your doorstep.

Travel Documents

Real ID Act - Effective May 3, 2023

Beginning in May, 2023, some state IDs will no longer permit you to board a domestic flight. Currently, some states are compliant, some have received extensions, and some are not compliant. Click here to see the status of your state. If your state license is not compliant, you can use a passport in lieu of a valid state ID.

Note: The federal government has extended the deadline to May 3, 2023 for domestic airline passengers to secure a Real ID driver's license for use as identification at the airport. Travelers without a verified license or ID card will also have the option of showing other identity documents, such as a passport or military ID to board a plane.

If you are a citizen of another country traveling to the U.S., you should contact an embassy or consulate of the U.S. to determine what travel documentation is necessary. You may also log on to the U.S. State Department's Internet site by clicking here.

If you are traveling by air to join and/or depart from this tour within the U.S., please read the section above entitled Airline Security Measures to determine what travel documentation is required.

If you are a citizen of the U.S. or Canada who travels frequently between the two countries, you may benefit from the NEXUS program, which is a joint initiative between the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency and the Canada Border Services Agency that allows pre-screened and approved travelers faster processing at designated highway lanes in high-volume border crossing locations, at a NEXUS kiosk at several airports, and at certain marine reporting locations in the Great Lakes and Seattle regions. For further information, you may log on to the Nexus Internet website by clicking here. Please note that longer stays abroad for any purpose may require additional travel documentation.

We recommend that you make at least two photocopies of all the travel documents that you bring with you. Include copies of the photo page of your passport that contains the date of issuance, the date of expiration and your citizenship. Secure one set of copies in the safe in your room while traveling and leave one set behind with someone at home who will assist you in the event your documents are misplaced, lost or stolen.

Please note that you must present a license or photo ID to enter Warner Bros. Studio on "Hooray for Hollywood" sightseeing track.

Travel with Children

Age Recommendations –
The minimum age requirement on this Tauck event is 5 years of age or older at the time of travel. Based upon our experience with family travelers, we have a minimum recommended age of 10 for this event to encourage comfort and enjoyment for all of our guests. All children must be accompanied on activities by a parent or guardian. At least one guest in the traveling party must be 21 years of age or older in order to make a reservation. Please Note: Children under 5 years of age are not permitted on the Warner Bros. Studio Tour.

Babysitting –
Our journeys are designed for adults and children to share the wonder of discovery together. If you require babysitting services, your Tauck Director will put you in contact with the appropriate hotel staff with whom you may make babysitting arrangements. There is usually an additional fee for these services. Many hotels do offer on-site babysitting services; however, babysitting services may not be available at all of our hotels. Please note that our Tauck Directors are not responsible for providing babysitting services.

Safety and Welfare Responsibility ―
We welcome the participation of child travelers on our exciting excursions. If you are traveling with a child on a Tauck journey, you have the sole responsibility for ensuring that that the child with whom you are traveling follows all rules of safety throughout the tour. By traveling with us, you release Tauck, Inc. and our partners of all liability for any risks and/or injuries to the child with whom you are traveling.

Weather

Weather in Southern California varies moderately with the seasons. December and January in the Los Angeles area are typically very comfortable with little rain, warm days and cool nights. In December and January the average high temperature is about 68 °F (20 °C) in the daytime and the average overnight low temperature is about 48 °F (9 °C). The region averages 1.9 in (49 mm) of rainfall in December and 3.3 in (85 mm) in January. The air is typically very dry, and the daytime temperatures can drop up to 20 °F or 11 °C by evening.

To read about current weather conditions, we suggest you log on to the Internet website, noaa.gov, by clicking here.

What To Pack

Dress for comfort and convenience with a wardrobe that is flexible and allows for layering. Casual, cotton resort wear is suggested. For the New Year's Eve Gala event, you may wish to dress up a bit – jacket and tie for men, casually-elegant outfit for ladies - but by all means be comfortable. A light jacket or sweater for late evenings or early mornings is recommended. Comfortable walking shoes that have already been broken-in are advisable.

Bathrobes and hairdryers are provided in each hotel room.

We recommend that you pack an adequate supply of your prescription medication in its original container to last through the entire event, together with a copy of your doctor's prescription (or a letter from your health-care provider on office stationery explaining that the medication has been prescribed for you), a list of the generic names of your medication, your travel documents and a change of clothing in your carry-on bag to avoid any inconvenience in the event that your flight or luggage is delayed.

Following is a list of recommended items to pack for the Celebration of Roses Event:

  • Jacket and tie for men
  • Casually-elegant outfit for ladies
  • Casual daytime wear – shorts, slacks, long and short-sleeved shirts
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen, hat
  • Swimwear
  • Gym wear
  • A light sweater or jacket for cloudy weather or a breezy night
  • Binoculars (7x50 preferably)
  • Insect repellent
  • Camera, lenses, batteries, memory cards and chargers
  • Lightweight, comfortable, sturdy walking shoes that have already been broken-in
  • Travel alarm clock/cell phone with alarm functions (many hotels do not have clocks in the rooms)
  • Reusable zipper lock bags or other waterproof bags
  • Rain poncho and collapsible umbrella
  • Daypack for camera equipment
  • Sundries and toiletries that may be difficult to find en route
  • Copies of your travel documents that should be secured in the safe in your hotel room while traveling

Air Information and Luggage Restrictions

Checked Luggage – General

Due to space restrictions, we ask that you please limit your checked luggage to one suitcase per person weighing no more than 50 pounds (23 kg) and with overall dimensions (length + width + height) not exceeding 62 inches (158 cm).

Besides complying with the Tauck restriction noted above, you should also be sure to research and comply with all airline baggage restrictions relating to your flights to and from your Tauck journey. Airlines have become much more strict in enforcing size and weight limits in recent years, and luggage exceeding airline standards for size or weight may result in expensive overage fees or other consequences.

Airlines are free to revise luggage policies without notice, and certain airlines have different baggage allowances for different classes of service. Researching and complying with airline luggage restrictions is the responsibility of the guest, and Tauck cannot be held responsible for any costs or disruptions to travel caused by the failure to research and comply with airline policies.

Please be sure to attach your Tauck luggage tag to your suitcase before leaving home!

Carry-on Luggage - General

Although oversize bags and wheeled, carry-on luggage are popular for airline travel, they are often not convenient or appropriate for motor coach travel or for many on-tour flights. Most modern sightseeing motor coaches offer limited space for numerous or larger items. Space under seats or in the overhead rack is typically small, and designed to accommodate items like coats, hats, purses, and small camera bags, etc.

For your day-to-day travel while on tour, we recommend that you limit your hand luggage to a small, soft-sided carry-on piece, and that you bring only those items you need handy during the day such as make-up, medications, cameras, film, etc. Items too large to fit under the motor coach seat or on the overhead rack must be stored in the luggage bays beneath the motor coach, and may be inaccessible during daytime travel.
