Curated for every itinerary, these are the can't-miss experiences you'll be telling your friends about long after you return home.

After carving through canyon walls on a private Shotover jet boat ride, rise above it all on a scenic helicopter flight over Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables – an alpine panorama few ever experience this way.

Set out on a guided trek along one of New Zealand's most celebrated coastal tracks. Ridgeline views and the satisfaction of reaching Resolution Bay make it an active achievement worth earning.

In the heart of New Zealand's premier wine region, settle in for a thoughtfully prepared lunch paired with local vintages – bright sauvignon blancs and expressive pinot noirs poured just steps from the vines.

Journey deep into Fiordland National Park and cruise beneath the sheer cliffs and cascading waterfalls in a place Rudyard Kipling called the "Eighth Wonder of the World."
New Zealand's largest city sets the tone – a harbor-framed gateway where sailboats drift past modern towers and waterfront neighborhoods hum with energy. Based in the heart of Auckland's Britomart waterfront district, you're steps from artisan shops, wine bars, and ferry docks that open the city to the sea. It's a stylish beginning and an easy return – an easy introduction to the rhythm of the journey ahead.
A short flight south leads to a world of forested inlets and glassy water accessible only by boat. From your lodge on the edge of Endeavour Inlet, the Marlborough Sounds unfold in every direction – ridgelines wrapped in native bush, seabirds tracing the horizon, tides shifting with the light. Trek a celebrated stretch of the Queen Charlotte Track, kayak quiet coves, and savor seafood pulled from the surrounding waters. With three nights immersed in this coastal wilderness, the pace slows – and the landscape takes center stage.
The Southern Alps rise dramatically around Queenstown, where adventure and alpine elegance meet. Jet boat through narrow river canyons, lift off by helicopter above the Remarkables, or spend the day journeying into Fiordland National Park to cruise beneath Milford Sound's towering cliffs and waterfalls. Even with its bold landscapes and kinetic energy, four nights in one alpine retreat offer balance – time to explore, recharge, and choose how you engage with New Zealand's adventure capital.
On the North Island, Lake Taupō's vast waters and the jade-toned Waikato River create a setting both powerful and serene. Here, at the iconic Huka Lodge, nature and refinement exist in equal measure. Cast into trout-rich currents with expert guides, cruise past towering Māori rock carvings, or follow riverside trails to thundering Huka Falls. Evenings are intimate and ingredient-driven, celebrating New Zealand's culinary excellence. It's a defining final chapter – where wild beauty and quiet luxury come into perfect balance.
Return to Auckland for a final evening by the water, where the energy of the harbor feels familiar now. In the morning, enjoy one last breakfast at your leisure – perhaps with time for a short stroll along the waterfront – before your journey home.

Free time is a big part of what makes Roam by Tauck feel personal – space to reset, explore independently, or follow whatever catches your eye. To help you start imagining how you'll spend it – whether that's reserving a table at a nearby restaurant, enjoying your hotel's amenities, or simply asking your Roam Director for suggestions – we've outlined the longer stretches of open time built into this journey below. Beyond these dedicated windows, you're always free to personalize your experience by sitting out activities that don't match your mood and enjoying more time your way.
Location indicates where your free time begins. In some cases, that means you'll be back at your hotel, with the freedom to relax or head out on your own.
