What's the answer as to which is better for getting around in Provence : sneakers , Addias / or hiking boots , Lowa ?? DJW going to Provence next month - April '18

DJW, you didn't state which tour you're taking but unless the Activity Level is 3 or higher, you won't need hiking boots. The occasional steep incline, cobbled street or stairs are likely the roughest you'll encounter in Provence. Do bring a nicer pair of shoes for evening though as sneakers are generally discouraged at night. Check the packing list for your trip here on the website or in your green travel documents book.

I have never been on a Tauck tour where hiking boots were needed- not the Ultimate Alps, not at Machu Picchu on Peru & Galapagos Islands, not climbing castle steps or ruins in England, Scotland, Wales; Italy, or any other tour. Frankly comfortable shoes or sneakers are fine, that's all that we wear. Besides, hiking books weigh too much!

I agree with Alan. Sneakers should be fine.

I don’t think I have ever seen anyone wearing hiking boots on any of my tours. It’s only Provence, beautiful!

Not unless you have particularly weak ankles. Just make sure that have good traction. I had some low rise Merrell lace ups there a few years ago and was grateful for their Vibram soles. It was a day that poured rain and the cobbled stone streets in one town were a bit slick.

I'm watching upcoming weather which looks rainy for upcoming mid-June Provence tour. I will bring sneakers with good tread but no hiking boots. Looking forward to the trip!
