Gift of time in Barcelona

in Paradors of Northern Spain
We are on the Paradors of Northern Spain tour in June and will be arriving one day early in Barcelona. We would love suggestions on how best to spend the day with sightseeing/activities that will not replicate the tour. Any advice ?

    We are on the May 29th Paradors tour and have been to Barcelona once before. There's lots to do near the hotel but if you are a fan of Gaudi checkout Parc Guell. It's a free colorful park to the north with a ceramic dragon fountain, mosaic benches, columns, and a Gaudi house/museum where he lived for 20 years. The museum had a small fee. You need to take a taxi, bus, or the metro to get there. We took the metro and had a 15-20 min mostly uphill walk to get to the entrance. The bus or taxi will drop you at the entrance.
