    When are you traveling?

We are traveling on the tour that begins Feb. 9th.
We will be arriving in Melbourne on the 7th and will be taking the (Gray Line) Great Ocean Road Tour on the 8th.
The concierge at the Langham made the reservations for us.
In addition to receiving general information and suggestions from travelers who return home, it would be great to hear what restaurants folks went to and enjoyed on the nights where dinners were not included.

We went on this trip last April...loved every minute.

There are many restaurants immediately next to the Langham in Southgate, some directly on the waterfront and many more in the Southgate mall which is adjacent to the hotel. They are pricey and not "Australian" but they are very good. Immediately across the pedestrian bridge which takes you to the Flinders St. Station and the CBD there are many small restaurants along DeGraves St. (See a previous thread by Jan) which are more local in flavor, these are also great and much more reasonable in price. I these will easily satisfy your needs and there is no need to go any further.

Most other stops on the tour do not offer either free time or restauants close by, but all of our meals were good.

In Sydney we went to a local pub (the Lord Nelson) after a free evening walking tour exploring "The Rocks"and a small below ground "local" Italian restaurant (Farrell's) which is a short walk from the Intercontinental Hotel.

Have fun, its a great trip!
