treatment of female tourists

Knowing that we will be going to a "male"dominant society, has anyone run across any instances of female "indifference?'

  • It did not seem to be that sort of society to me unless I was too much in a Tauck bubble. I've been on two different Costa Rica tours with Tauck, though not the Panama Canal tour. They offer less tours choice of tour now than in the past. It's one of my favorite places and feels so exotic even though it is one of the most reasonably priced tours. I would actually recommend Costa Rica to anyone wondering about going to Africa as a taster.
  • Hi Georgia,

We haven't received any complaints about our female guests being treated with any disrespect whatsoever. I spoke with the manager in charge of this particular trip, and he told me that in his travels to these countries, "[he has not] witnessed any mistreatment of women or any significant machismo. [He] vacationed in Costa Rica with [his] wife and daughter last year, and found the people, men and women, absolutely charming."

    I hope this helps!
