Is India safe for women only tours ?

Being an older female, I felt very safe on Tauck's tour of India which I took two years ago. But, I would strongly suggest that younger women do not go alone -- a tour would be fine. Use good judgment as you would in any urban area in the U.S. or Europe.

We did that trip 18 months ago. You do not mention whether you have been on a Tauck tour previously - we have been on five and would not have gone to India with anybody else. Once you join the tour you are inside the Tauck "bubble" so you can be totally reassured. They look after you so carefully, but as the previous person said, just be aware as you would anywhere else. As an example, while we were down at Kerala a strike of public service workers was scheduled, so just to make sure we were absolutely safe they arranged a police escort through some of the highly "unionised" villages where they thought people might object to a coach breaking the strike. You must understand that in India the only difference is that you must be prepared to lose your personal space once you step outside - there are people everywhere.
Trust Tauck, they are so caring and protective and the Tour Director will advise very precisely as the tour progresses. Have no worries whatsoever.
    Go for it and Enjoy.
