Scuba Diving?

Can you scuba dive while in the Galapagos instead of snorkeling?

  • I do not believe the Isabela II carried diving equipment for their guests. Certainly no one dove on our trip. I thought I remembered reading somewhere that diving in the Galapagos is difficult due to the strong currents and lower visibility. I can assure you that the snorkeling is nothing short of fabulous! It is usually in fairly shallow waters (with the exception of one open water trip that had some pretty strong currents), and each trip was a wonderful adventure! We have snorkeled in some pretty great places, but this was, hands down, the best! I was swimming along, through schools of fish of various sizes and colors watching a sea turtle below me, observing a baby octopus slipping under a rock, while being escorted by three playful sea lions cavorting about when a Galápagos penguin zooms by me underwater! Forgive the lousy sentence structure, but you get the idea!! A great trip!
