Croc shoes

Going on the Feb 4 westbound trip and wonder if CROC (rubber shoes) would be good for getting off the landing boats and nature walks. They are comfortable, just wonder if they'd work okay. Would appreciate opinion from someone who has done the trip.

  • We went on this trip in 2011. My opinion is that you need a more traditional "water shoe." The tighter fitted kind more like a rubber sock. I think mine were made by LL Bean. You will wear them everyday, and they'll get pretty dirty. I actually took an old pair and gave them to a staff member on the boat who was very happy to get them. The trip is wonderful. Amazing snorkeling, even better than the Great Barrier Reef.
  • When we were in the Galapagos one of our members used crocs everywhere she went. Seemed to work well getting in and out of the landing boats as well as the lava rock shores. Some of the walks there we rough going and I never heard her complain. Good sandles will also work quite well.
