New Flight Options for midwest/Chicago area K&Ters

I was searching an airline issue on a travel website and ran across a news release that Ethiopian Airlines will start flying between O'Hare (ORD) and Addis Ababa in Africa in June 2018. Like ET's flights to Dulles, the return flight to O'Hare, will make a brief stop for gas only in Dublin (no boarding or deplaning) so it will essentially be non-stop flights to/from Addis Ababa (ADD). They will be using their 787-8 Dreamliner or 777 for the flights. One source said daily flights, another said 3 days/week.

According to one website, the schedule should look like this:

ET511 Chicago to Addis Ababa departing 9:55 AM arriving 7:40 AM (+1 day)
ET510 Addis Ababa to Dublin departing 10:15 PM arriving 4:25 AM (+1 day)
(Note: due to the altitude at Addis Ababa and jet stream they must stop for fuel (only) in Dublin)
ET510 Dublin to Chicago departing 5:25 AM arriving 7:55 AM

If that schedule holds, connections for the K&T safari should be good- the Chicago flight arrives at 7:40 AM and the connecting flight to Kilimanjaro (JRO) departs at 10:20 AM, a layover of 2 hr 40 min. The return flight has a shorter layover- one of three daily ET flights from Nairobi (NBO) arrives in ADD at 9:05 PM and the flight from ADD to ORD leaves at 10:15 PM; a 1 hr 10 min. layover in ADD - plenty of time for ADD!

It can't be booked on the ET website yet; I just tried.

We flew out of Dulles on Ethiopian a few years ago for the K&T safari- ET was the least expensive, had the fewest stops, shortest layover, a nice mid-afternoon arrival in Arusha, and great service, at least in Business. Just a tidbit to put in your saved file if you live near Chicago and K&T is on your bucket list, and you aren't married to another airline.
