Traveling Well Includes:

  • Keynote address by Ken Burns at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA), followed by an opportunity to meet him at a private open house reception
  • Tauck-Exclusive private performance by Ellis Marsalis, New Orleans’ premier modern jazz pianist and patriarch of America’s “First Family of Jazz”, at NOCCA
  • Daily themed sightseeing tracks (The Roots of Jazz, Jazz in the Quarter, Jazz & the Story of Survival Today) in intimate small groups of approximately 35 guests accompanied by a Tauck Director and local guides

  • Jazz brunch at the Court of Two Sisters
  • Lunch at a historic spot in a neighborhood that Louis Armstrong once called home
  • Talk by environmental architect Nellie Watson on living below sea level & post-Katrina New Orleans
  • Private gala farewell dinner at The Orpheum Theater, a newly restored historic gem from the 1920s
  • Breakfast talk by Lolis Eric Elie – New Orleans cookbook author, writer and co-producer of the PBS documentary Faubourg Tremé: The Untold Story of Black New Orleans, and a former writer for HBO's Treme.
  • Visits to key sites including Basin Street Station, the Cabildo, St. Louis Cemetery #1, Le Musée de f.p.c., St. Augustine Catholic Church, Old U.S. Mint, Tremé, Preservation Hall and the French Quarter
  • All guests attend lectures outside of the sightseeing tracks and special evening events together
  • Airport transfers upon arrival and departure as noted
