The Panama Canal & Costa Rica - Eastbound

Earth Journeys... created by Tauck and BBC Earth

2016 Prices From $6,990 for 11 Days - Tauck Cruising

New for 2016 – Earth Journeys, created by Tauck and BBC Earth! 2014 marked the 100th year since the Panama Canal first opened its interoceanic route – a U.S. Army Corps of Engineering feat that put Panama at the center of global trade. In 2016, The Panama Canal & Costa Rica joins our Earth Journeys collection featuring custom-made BBC Earth on-tour film vignettes and when the opportunity arises, the use of field equipment. Combine the magic of Tauck's Costa Rica tours with a Panama Canal cruise on our 11-day The Panama Canal & Costa Rica and enjoy up-close discoveries of amazing wildlife, fascinating centuries-old cultures and man-made marvels, and two-night stays in Panama City and San José. A 6-night voyage aboard the newly renovated yacht m/v Tere Moana includes a complete transit of the Panama Canal, and an opportunity for cultural exchange with locals. Explore the rich interior and its abundant wildlife with our expert naturalists. Go swimming or snorkeling, land on white sand beaches via Zodiac craft, visit a gold museum in San José and learn how coffee beans are harvested and brewed to perfection. Experience the best of our Costa Rica tours with the pleasures of Tauck small ship cruising through the Panama Canal!

Note: This cruise features two types of landings on the islands. Dry Landings occur when guests step from the Zodiac-style rafts on to rocks or a dock. Wet Landings occur when the raft edges onto a sandy beach and guests step into knee-deep water and wade ashore. Daily shore excursions will include wet and dry landings on diverse islands. Wet landings will be made by Zodiac-style rafts on sandy or rocky beaches and may require wading ashore in shallow water.

Note: Activities marked with an asterisk (*) are at your own risk; a signed liability waiver will be required.

The Tauck Difference

This was our first, and we hope many more, Tauck trips. It was everything we had hoped for and more, from the tour directors, the itinerary, the quality of the ship's staff and overall accommodations and food. We are not first time travelers, but this was truly the best. Can't wait for the next one! We discovered new peoples and new worlds on this trip. We developed an appreciation for an environment totally different from home. We learned how "ego-centric" we are. All this amid sailing on a ship which seemed like our own personal yacht!
