Buenos Aires' Teatro Colón

Behind-the-scenes at the Teatro Colón opera house

Acoustically considered among the five best concert venues in the world (alongside concert halls in Vienna, Berlin, Amsterdam and Boston's Symphony Hall), Buenos Aires' current, seven-tiered Teatro Colón opera house opened in 1908 with a production of Verdi's "Aida" – replacing a previous incarnation that was in operation in Argentina's capital from 1857 until 1888. You'll enjoy a privately guided, behind-the-scenes tour of this Argentine gem – which emerged in 2010 from a three-year, $100 million renovation – including its magnificent central chandelier, exquisite stained glass, allegorical ceiling frescoes, marble staircases and opulent Gold Room.

Iguazú Falls from both sides of the border

Experience the "Great Waters" of Iguazú

Sixty-five feet taller than Niagara Falls and twice as wide, Iguazú Falls – a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site – was also named one of the "New Seven Wonders of Nature" by the New Seven Wonders of the World Foundation. In fact, you have to visit two countries to get a complete look at this natural wonder; its 275 cascades are spread in a horseshoe shape over nearly two miles of the Iguazú River, straddling the borders of Argentina and Brazil.

Belmond Copacabana Palace

Art Deco elegance on Rio's iconic Copacabana Beach

Rio de Janeiro's Art Deco-inspired Belmond Copacabana Palace overlooks the Brazilian city's world-famous Copacabana Beach. Having first opened its doors to a celebrity clientele in 1923, the hotel continues to welcome guests with an impeccable reputation for graciousness and service... offering a host of amenities to ensure a most comfortable stay, including guest rooms featuring original works of art.

The pace of the trip was wonderful and the organization of the logistics of moving between locations was exceptional.
