Day 2: Roman holiday before your Mediterranean Sea voyage
Ancient Rome unfolds before you as you view the Circus Maximum, Piazza Barberini and Bernini’s famous fountain, the ruins of the Roman Forum and the Colosseum during a morning sightseeing tour. The remainder of the day is yours to spend exploring Rome as you choose.

• Day 3: Views of the Vatican
A guided visit of the Vatican, including St. Peter’s Basilica and the famed Sistine Chapel, precedes your travels to the port of Civitavecchia to board ms Noordam. This evening, ms Noordam sets sail across the blue Mediterranean Sea.

• Day 4: Treasures under the Tuscan sun
ms Noordam arrives in Tuscany for a full day of exploration. View the Romanesque churches and Roman amphitheatre enclosed by the medieval walls of Lucca, before traveling to Pisa for a walking tour of the "Square of Miracles." Anchored at each corner are outstanding examples of medieval architecture – of which the famous Leaning Tower is just one.

Your day begins with a guided tour of glamorous Monte-Carlo, followed by time to explore a bit on your own. Travel to Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat on the fabled French Riviera to tour the magnificent mansion of Baroness Ephrussi de Rothchild and enjoy her seven beautifully fragrant gardens, each one inspired by a place to which she traveled – this is one of the most delightful spots along the Mediterranean Sea!

• Day 6: Sailing the Mediterranean Sea to Barcelona
Today is yours to enjoy aboard the ms Noordam as you choose, and there is so much from which to choose! Sample the pampering services of the Greenhouse Spa & Salon or enjoy a workout in the fully equipped Fitness Center. Enjoy a gourmet demonstration in the new Culinary Arts Center or participate in a hands-on cooking demonstration. Try your luck at the on-board Casino, go to a movie, or check your e-mail in the Explorations Café. Enjoy a soak in the whirlpool or laze by the swimming pools. A day as you please as you cruise to Barcelona.

Following a special lunch, you can spend the remainder of the day discovering the charms of Barcelona in your own way; admission is included for a visit to the Picasso Museum. There are few islands in the Mediterranean Sea more lovely than Majorca in the Balearic Islands. Explore the capital city of Palma de Majorca and the 14th-century village of Valldemossa.

Tour prices are per person in U.S. dollars. All hotel and ship accommodations, motor coach and ship transportation, port charges, entertainment, special dinners, sightseeing, shore excursions, luggage handling, and the services of the Tauck Director and local guides and drivers are included. A representative of Tauck will meet you at Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Fiumicino and provide transportation to the Rome Cavalieri Hilton, regardless of the day and time of your arrival, provided we have your updated flight information at least two weeks before the start of the tour. On the last day of the tour, Tauck will provide transportation from the ms Noordam to Leonardo da Vinci International Airport. We suggest that you allow at least 2½ hours for flight check-in. Transportation will also be provided to Rome Cavalieri Hilton and the Sheraton Roma for guests who choose to post-stay.
Hotel and Ship Accommodations – The tour price includes all hotel and ship accommodations with private baths. Hotel Rooms Before and After Tours – To avoid jet lag and possible flight delays, you may wish to make hotel arrangements for the nights preceding or following your tour. As a service, Tauck will book additional nights for you on a space-available basis using special rates only available through Tauck. Hotel room charges will be added to the tour cost. Luggage Responsibility – Although every effort is made to handle your luggage carefully, we cannot be responsible, assume liability or accept claims for loss or damage to luggage and personal effects due to breakage, theft, or fair wear and tear through hotel, airline and group carrier handling. Preparing to Go

ATM and Credit Cards – We recommend that you contact your bank in advance of departing on this tour to determine whether you will be able to use your ATM and credit cards while traveling. When contacting your bank, notify them of your travel dates so that they will anticipate charges being made outside of your hometown and do not suspend your cards for what may appear to them to be “suspicious” charges. We also recommend that you make a photocopy of the front and back sides of your ATM and credit cards to leave behind with someone at home who will assist you in the event your cards are misplaced, lost or stolen.
Clothing and Packing – Dress for comfort and convenience with a wardrobe that is adaptable and allows for layering. Most days are spent outside or in transit. Therefore, casual, comfortable, cotton clothing is recommended. Breezy days at sea and cool evenings will require warmer, layered clothing.
Daily life aboard the ms Noordam and in ports of call is casual. For daytime we recommend shorts, slacks, sundresses, and short-sleeved shirts. For poolside, we suggest bringing several bathing outfits, cover-ups, deck shoes, and a sun hat. For onshore excursions it is very important to pack comfortable yet sturdy walking shoes that have already been broken-in. As weather is unpredictable, bring along a sweater, a water-proof windbreaker and a collapsible umbrella. Please note that tee shirts, jeans and shorts are not permitted n the ship’s dining room or public areas.

Each night, a daily program will be delivered to your stateroom announcing the suggested dress for the following evening. There are three types of attire required for evening wear:
- Formal nights – there will be one to three of these nights on this cruise where a tuxedo or dark suit for men is preferred, but a jacket and tie is perfectly acceptable, and a gown, pantsuit or dress for women is in order
- Informal nights – where blazers, but not ties, are required for men and cocktail dresses for women are appropriate
- Casual nights - where khakis and polo shirts or resort wear are appropriate
Valet laundry and dry-cleaning service is available at the Rome Cavalieri Hilton and aboard the ms Noordam. For safety reasons, no ironing is permitted in any stateroom aboard the ms Noordam. Each stateroom is equipped with a hairdryer.
We recommend that you pack an adequate supply of your prescription medication in its original container to last through your entire journey, together with a copy of your doctor’s prescription (or a letter from your health-care provider on office stationery explaining that the medication has been prescribed for you), a list of the generic names of your medication, your travel documents and a change of clothing in your carry-on bag to avoid any inconvenience in the event that your flight or luggage is delayed.

Elevation - The maximum elevation on this tour is 1,370 feet (411 meters) in Lucca and Pisa. Most time is spent at sea level.
Health - To enjoy fully what this tour offers, you should be in good health, and able to walk reasonable distances often over uneven ground as some of the most memorable sightseeing can only be accomplished on foot. Many of the sites visited were built in antiquity and have many steps and inclines. It is important that you wear sturdy, comfortable walking shoes that have already been broken-in. The amount of walking that you choose to do, however, is at your discretion.
If you are unable to walk on your own, a wheelchair will be the primary mobility assistance aid for getting on and off the ship. Holland America Line has a limited supply of wheelchairs onboard. In order to accommodate their guests, wheelchairs are reserved exclusively for embarkation and disembarkation situations. If you will require regular use of a wheelchair, we recommend that you bring your own wheelchair with you. Situations may occur in which mobility-impaired guests may not be able to go ashore at the time they desire or are unable to go ashore at all in certain ports. Health - To enjoy fully what this tour offers, you should be in good health, and able to walk reasonable distances often over uneven ground as some of the most memorable sightseeing can only be accomplished on foot. Many of the sites visited were built in antiquity and have many steps and inclines. It is important that you wear sturdy, comfortable walking shoes that have already been broken-in. The amount of walking that you choose to do, however, is at your discretion.
If you are unable to walk on your own, a wheelchair will be the primary mobility assistance aid for getting on and off the ship. Holland America Line has a limited supply of wheelchairs onboard. In order to accommodate their guests, wheelchairs are reserved exclusively for embarkation and disembarkation situations. Luggage Restrictions –
Checked Luggage – General
While it is common for airlines to allow passengers to check more than one piece of luggage per person, space constraints during your Tauck journey make it difficult to accommodate extra luggage. We ask that you limit your checked luggage to one average size suitcase per person.
In addition, airlines have adopted more strict policies on enforcing size and weight limits. Luggage exceeding maximum restrictions may require expensive overage fees and frustrating and hurried re-packing at the ticket counter, or even risk being left behind.
Many carriers require checked luggage not exceed a weight of 50 lbs (22.7 kg), per piece. Airlines revise luggage policies frequently and often without notice; therefore, Tauck cannot be held liable to the weight limit listed above. We urge you to check with your airline before traveling to determine current weight and size restrictions. It is also important to note that restrictions for luggage size and weight may vary with the same airline based on the class of service you select. First and Business Class ticket holders may have different restrictions than Coach Class travelers.

Most modern sightseeing motor coaches offer limited space for numerous or larger items. For your day-to-day travel while on tour, we recommend that you limit your hand luggage to a small, soft-sided carry-on piece, and only those items you need handy during the day such as purses, make-up, medications, cameras, film, etc. Items too large to fit under the motor coach seat or in the overhead rack must be stored in the luggage bays beneath the motor coach, and may not allow for access during daytime travel.

Based upon our experience with family travelers, for each itinerary we have a minimum recommended age to encourage comfort and enjoyment for all of our guests. Babysitting – Tauck journeys are designed for adults and children to share the wonder of discovery together. However, our guests have occasionally inquired about babysitting services. If you are interested, your Tauck Director will put you in contact with the appropriate hotel staff with whom you may make babysitting arrangements, to ensure your precise needs are met. There is usually an additional fee for these services. Many hotels do offer babysitting services that may be arranged on site; however, babysitting services are not guaranteed at all of our hotels. Please note that our Tauck Directors are not responsible for providing babysitting services.
Safety and Welfare Responsibility – We welcome the participation of child travelers on our exciting excursions. For safety and security purposes, children under 18 years of age must be booked into a room with at least one accompanying adult. If you are traveling with a child on a Tauck journey, you have the sole responsibility for ensuring that the child with whom you are traveling follows all rules of safety throughout the tour. By traveling with Tauck, you release Tauck, Inc. and our partners of all liability for any risks and/or injuries to the child with whom you are traveling.

If you travel into or out of the U.S. with children under the age of 18, you should be aware of the following: because of increasing incidents of child abductions in disputed custody cases and because children are at risk as possible victims of child pornography, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) strongly recommends that unless the child is accompanied by both parents, you should have a note from the child’s other parent (or, in the case of a child traveling with grandparents, uncles or aunts, sisters or brothers, or friends, a note signed by both parents) stating that the parent(s) not traveling acknowledge that the parent(s), family members, etc. who are traveling into or out of the U.S. with the child have permission to do so.
CBP also suggests that this note be notarized. While CBP may not ask to see this documentation, if they do ask, and you do not have it, you may be detained until the circumstances of the child traveling without both parents can be fully assessed.
If there is no second parent with legal claims to the child (deceased, sole custody, etc.) any other relevant paperwork, such as court decision, birth certificate naming only one parent, death certificate, etc., will be useful.
All children who are U.S. citizens should also have a certified copy of their birth certificate or baptism record for ID. Children over the age of 14 are also required to have a photo ID.
Many other countries also share this concern for children who travel without both parents. To ensure smooth travel, Tauck requires all guests to comply with the travel regulations of each country visited. This information is available from each country’s consulate.

In the unlikely event of a medical emergency, a medical facility will require permission from the child’s parents to provide treatment. Therefore, we strongly suggest that you bring along a letter from both parents authorizing emergency medical treatment for their child.

Cell Phones - We understand and appreciate the value of instant communication when we travel; it keeps us in touch with friends and family, and it's a reassurance in the event of an emergency. However, the use of cell phones can be disruptive to a tour and to other guests who are enjoying their vacation. As a courtesy to others, we ask that guests refrain from cell phone usage during motor coach travel, group functions, sightseeing and when the Tauck Director is addressing the group as a whole. There are usually many opportunities to make or receive calls at times when it does not affect others.

ATMs are widespread and are generally the most cost effective and convenient method of obtaining money.
When you board the ms Noordam, your shipboard account will be activated and you may make purchases by simply showing your guest identification card and signing a receipt. On embarkation day, you will need to register your credit or debit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover) in order to use your account for shipboard purchases. At the end of your cruise, you will receive a final statement, and your card will be charged only for the actual amount of your purchases.
