Tauck Reveals "Jewels Along the Nile" in New Egypt Trip10-Night Journey Combines Ancient Wonders, Luxury AccommodationsNorwalk, CT (June 20, 2005) Tauck World Discovery will use its 80 years of travel expertise to showcase Egypt’s 5,000 year-old culture in its new “Jewels Along The Nile” journey. The 11-day/10-night trip (from $3,990, double occupancy) combines the ancient wonders of Egypt with Tauck’s signature, award-winning style of travel, and is highlighted by a three-night River Nile cruise aboard the luxurious Nile Adventurer and accommodations in the country’s most exclusive hotel resorts. The trip also includes an in-depth, day-long visit to Alexandria, available on most other packages only as an added-cost option. “Egypt is a breathtaking destination,” said company president Robin Tauck, “rich with antiquities and a 5,000 year-old civilization. Our new ‘Jewels Along The Nile’ program visits all of the most famous sites, from the Pyramids at Giza to Abu Simbel to the Valley of the Kings, while providing our guests with both the cultural insights and the fine amenities they’ve come to expect from Tauck.” “Throughout the trip,” added Tauck, “our guests will be accompanied by university-trained, licensed Egyptologists who will explain Egypt’s history and traditions. Guests will also experience traditional Egyptian entertainment, a felucca ride on the Nile, the chance to sample traditional regional cuisine – even a camel ride in the shadow of the Pyramids.” Also included are entrance to all museums and attractions, a total of 26 meals, and the services of an experienced Tauck Director. Tauck’s guests in Egypt will stay at three of the country’s finest hotel properties, and enjoy a three-night, five-star cruising experience aboard one of finest ships on the Nile. Accommodations for the first three nights of the itinerary will be at the lavish Oberoi Mena House, with rooms overlooking the Great Pyramids at Giza. Built in 1869, the hotel is set amid 40 acres of incredible gardens and is less than 800 yards from the towering, 4,500-year-old Pyramid of Cheops. The first three days of the journey will include visits to the Pyramid of Cheops as well as the Sphinx and the Step Pyramid of Djoser. Guests will also explore the intriguing city of Cairo, visiting synagogues, Roman ruins, mosques, tombs and shopping bazaars. On Day 4 guests will depart the Oberoi Mena House and fly to Abu Simbel where they’ll visit the magnificent temples of Ramesses II and Queen Nefertari. After a short flight to Aswan, they’ll visit the Aswan High Dam before boarding the Nile Adventurer for a three-night cruise along the river. Five-Star Cruising on the River NileMeticulously renovated in 2001, the sleek and elegant Nile Adventurer boasts a five-star rating and the intimate feel of a comfortable private yacht. The 325-foot ship has 34 air-conditioned staterooms with private baths, and five spacious decks that feature a swimming pool, sun deck with outdoor bar, restaurant, lounge, library, game room and gift shop. The ship also has an attentive crew of 34, and a capacity of just 68 guests, to ensure superior service. During the three-day cruise, guests will visit the Philae Temple and the Museum of Nubia, as well as Kom Ombo, Edfu and the Temple of Horus before touring the extensive temple complexes of Karnak and Luxor. Guests will disembark the Nile Adventurer the following morning and travel to the Valley of the Queens where they’ll visit Queen Hatshepsut’s temple. Later they’ll proceed to the Valley of the Kings, burial site of over 60 Pharaohs, where they’ll see the fabled tomb of King Tut. Accommodations that night will be at the elegant Le Meridien Luxor with rooms overlooking the Nile. The remaining three nights will be spent at the sophisticated Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at the First Residence, situated on the Nile’s west bank within view of the Pyramids. Days 8, 9 and 10 include a visit to the acclaimed Egyptian Museum, a day-long excursion to the port city of Alexandria, and a walking tour of The Citadel, an imposing mountaintop fortress offering incredible views of Cairo.
