Tauck Featured in New Video With YouTube Sensation “Dancing Matt”
Westport Native and Dancing Traveler Matt Harding Steps Lively With Tauck Travel Agents In France
NORWALK, CT (June 25, 2013) Matt Harding, a Westport, CT native whose quirky dancing travelogue videos have been viewed over 80 million times on YouTube, performed his signature dance with guests of Norwalk-based travel company Tauck earlier this year, and the footage is included in a new “Dancing Matt” video which debuted on YouTube last night. The Tauck guests, travel agents attending a training seminar with the company in France, danced with Matt in front of Tauck’s ms Swiss Emerald riverboat while it was docked in Lyon.
“Matt is a fun and inspiring ambassador for travel, and we’re thrilled to be a part of his new video,” said Tauck CEO Dan Mahar. “Matt’s videos and Tauck’s journeys share a similar goal – to help inspire people and forge connections through travel – and we jumped at the opportunity to work with him.”
Tauck teamed with Harding after he signed an agreement with the U.S. Tour Operators Association (USTOA), a trade group that Tauck first joined when it was founded in 1972. Tauck is one of several USTOA member companies featured in the video, which was shot over 90 days and saw Harding travel some 70,000 miles to Malaysia, Australia, Alaska, Tanzania, Korea, Chile, Ireland and New York’s Coney Island. The new Harding video featuring Tauck and other USTOA members can be viewed at www.ustoa.com/dancingwithmatt, or at YouTube.com by searching for “Dancing with Matt and USTOA.”
According to Harding, Tauck’s travel agent guests helped inspire his performance. “After an overnight flight to Lyon, my cameraman and I went straight to the riverboat to film and I have to admit we were pretty exhausted,” recalled Harding. “But, I give full credit to the Tauck guests for giving us the second wind we needed. They couldn’t wait to dance!” Harding also came away impressed with Tauck’s ms Swiss Emerald. “I can see why river cruising is growing increasingly popular. The Tauck ship was remarkable,” he noted, “but the crew and guests really stood out and made the whole experience more exciting.”
Harding began his “Dancing Matt” video career in 2003 while visiting Hanoi during a trip through Southeast Asia with a friend. After his friend suggested that Harding dance for some impromptu video footage in front of a local landmark, the pair continued the practice in other locations throughout their travels. The resulting video became an internet sensation, ultimately leading to corporate underwriters for subsequent trips and numerous additional videos over the past ten years.
