Tauck Expands Complimentary Drinks on Riverboats, Unveils New Loft Cabins
Tauck Toasts First Photos of Innovative Lower-level Cabins By
Announcing Unlimited Onboard Beer, Wine and Premium Spirits
NORWALK, CT (February 25, 2014) Tauck has released the first photos of its innovative lower-level “loft” cabins, and Travel + Leisure’s “World’s Best River Cruise Line” is celebrating the event by announcing an expanded complimentary drinks policy on all six of its European riverboats. Under the new policy, guests will now enjoy unlimited beer, wine and premium spirits throughout the day aboard Tauck’s four existing Jewel Class ships and on its two new Inspiration Class ships launching this year. Travelers on Tauck’s riverboats had previously enjoyed unlimited wine and beer with onboard meals only.
According to Tauck CEO Dan Mahar, the expansion of the drinks policy is a natural extension of the company’s all-inclusive approach. “Without a doubt Tauck is the most fully-inclusive river cruise line, so expanding our beverage policy is entirely consistent with our core philosophy,” said Mahar. “We already sell zero options on our riverboats, and we already include all gratuities, shore excursions, meals ashore, airport transfers and much more, so we’re happy to make the total Tauck river cruise experience even more inclusive for our guests.”
Tauck is announcing its new onboard beverage policy as it simultaneously releases the first photos of the new “loft” cabins that will be featured on the lower (Emerald) deck of its two new Inspiration Class ships, the ms Inspire and the ms Savor. The photos were captured earlier this month aboard the ms Inspire in The Netherlands where the ship is being fitted out in advance of its official launch in April. The ms Savor will launch in June.
Tauck’s new loft design, the first real innovation brought to the lower-level cabins on any cruise line’s riverboats, features a raised seating area topped by a correspondingly higher ceiling that together allow the use of a much taller window. Besides opening the cabin up to far more natural light, the window also features a central horizontal panel that can be raised electronically to let in generous amounts of fresh air. By contrast, lower-level cabins on other ships typically have small eye-level windows that are permanently closed to the outside air. At 225 square feet, Tauck’s loft cabins are also 50% more spacious than lower-level cabins found on other riverboats. The ms Inspire and ms Savor will each feature eight loft cabins on their respective Emerald decks.
TAUCK’S NEW INSPIRATION CLASS SHIPS
The ms Inspire and ms Savor together comprise Tauck’s new Inspiration Class ships. Both ships will be 443 feet long and each will have a capacity of just 130 guests to ensure a less-crowded, more relaxed and intimate ambiance. By contrast, riverboats of the same size operated by other lines carry up to 190 guests. And where Tauck staffs each riverboat with a Tauck Cruise Director and three Tauck Directors, ships in other riverboat lines are typically staffed by just one cruise director despite having up to 46% more passengers aboard.
Each of Tauck’s new Inspiration Class ships will have twenty-two 300 square foot suites furnished with two French balconies with floor-to-ceiling windows, pull-out couch, roomy walk-in closest with built-in drawers, and spacious bathroom with rain shower. Along with the suites, the newbuilds will also have thirty-two 225 square foot cabins, plus an additional thirteen cabins ranging from 150 to 190 square feet. In keeping with Tauck’s policy of welcoming solo travelers, four of the 150 square foot cabins are being set aside for guests traveling on their own.
In addition to launching its two new ships, Tauck is also launching four new river cruise itineraries this year, including its first ever on the River Seine in France. Those interested in more information may contact their local travel professional, visit www.tauck.com, or call 800 468 2825.
